What sort of motorcycle will she be riding? Al "Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon. " Remove *ME* before replying
Few people get to spend time inside. There are any number of common preconceptions, probably promoted by TV and movies. You get to see how the system really works and how it fails those on the bottom.
Amazing what a dose of reality can do to a loudmouth redneck populist celebrity who used to say this; "I'm sick of these do-gooders who are getting out there and saying these people [prisoners] must be rehabilitated." - Pauline Hanson 14/2/01 - B^D "Mandatory sentencing laws should remain, but jails should be tougher. "Stop making them as if they're holiday camps ... a jail is a prison and a form of punishment, not there to get you off the streets and get a roof over your head," she said. - Pauline Hanson 9/3/00 - "Hanson called for stricter sentences by the judiciary, and said judges should be sacked if they did not come down hard on criminals. Prisoners with TVs, gyms and "three square meals a day" had it too easy. "You've got to have punishment before rehabilitation," she said. "We can learn a lot from a country like Singapore." Asked "would you advocate floggings as they have in Singapore?", Ms Hanson said, "Oh, too right I would. Yes I would." - Pauline Hanson 23/8/01
She examined her inner sole, (and so did the wardens ;-) Now she is all bleeding heart, pro rehabilitation, teary and soft, then she was vitriolic, sharp, ignorant and harsh, I think prison has made a man of her! "Mandatory sentencing laws should remain, but jails should be tougher. "Stop making them as if they're holiday camps ... a jail is a prison and a form of punishment, not there to get you off the streets and get a roof over your head," she said. - Pauline Hanson 9/3/00 - She only spent a few weeks in jail and looked like a weeping wreck on TV. Not very tough, but at least she has learnt from the experience. "I'm sick of these do-gooders who are getting out there and saying these people [prisoners] must be rehabilitated." - Pauline Hanson 14/2/01 - Now it looks exactly like the bullshit and macho bravado it was! Yes I would." - Pauline Hanson 23/8/01 Don't you just hate armchair experts whose experience is all from books and TV, 9mostly rabid right wing talkback radio) who pontificate punitice and divisive scapegoating twaddle until they get smacked in the face with a dose of reality, and start to show some basic humanity? Perhaps 6 months inside could smarten up Howard and the Front Bench? Indeed... at least she has the benefit of a public profile and plenty of supporters. Pity all the other nobodies with no cash to buy their way out of a tight spot. Anyway, I'm hoping something positive comes out of this in some way... even if Hansen herself steps back into the political arena directly or indirectly. That doesn't mean I hold her in high regard (far from it) but we need more genuine ppl in the political scene... those that truly believe in what they're doing... and not all these heartless, inhuman and cynical dogsbodys of the rich/powerful. <rant over>

Yep. I'm hoping something good comes out of it in some way, it seems like one of those very rare opportunities to me. (I mean the legal/judicial system) : Perhaps 6 months inside could smarten up Howard and the Front Bench? I was just thinking about this funnily enough. I honestly believe that in Howard's case, sure it would shake him up big time... but it would do *nothing* as far as changing his attitude politically. He is a thoroughly unethical and cold hearted man who has not the slightest problem with any hypocrisies that he may have.
I'm sick of representatives whose only work experience consists of being a political staffer and whose only struggle is in how to be preselected for a safe seat.
Hey, Washinghampster, when are you going to learn to use your newsreader software? (I'm sure it will happen before you ever have something to say ;-) Lets take the knife to Washinghampsters gibberish, fraudulently misrepresented as part of my text. (I don't mind being abused by rednecks for my witty and intelligent posts but I object to their tactics of trying to discredit me by misrepresenting their nonsense as my text! B^p ) I didn't realise you had made it something to aspire too! How handy for you! I have never committed any acts which would land me in jail. And unlike Hanson, I have never even put myself in the position where 12 ordinary Queenslanders would believe me guilty, because there was evidence i had actually told One Nation supporters they were not party members in an attempt at "misinformation intended to confuse the membership and to entrench the Management" - Court proceedings http://www.courts.qld.gov.au/qjudgment/QCA 2003/QCA03-488.pdf The proceedings show that the appeal court held it was a reasonable 'inference's that if Hanson and Ettridge provided a list to the Electoral commission, then that list constituted members. They chose to ignore the explicit statements of Hanson and Ettridge themselves, that those listed were NOT members; " The evidence of statements made by Ettridge and Hanson suggesting that those who applied to be members of Pauline Hanson's One Nation did not become members of the party but of the support group, was not evidence of the objective intention of the parties at the time of contracting to join the unincorporated association, the political party, Pauline Hanson's One Nation." The reason given for ignoring what looks like an admission? The court held that Hanson and Ettridge were spreading " misinformation intended to confuse the membership and to entrench the Management" B^D There admissions were set aside as lies made to the One Nation sheeple to dupe the stupid morons!
