can i ride interstate on a learners permit TIA
"Jessie James" wrote I doubt it. not a problem in WA as the border is 1600 kms away. A bloody long way on L-Plate speeds. Of course, when you get to the border, it's another 1300 kms to the next 'town'. Theo
so long as you ride in Vitoria and nsw don't know what the other states's learner laws are like. I think that in qld you cna tride with l's without an accompanying rider. (is that correct?)
"kiwipete" wrote Pete, that's about the tenth time. That's not a spelling error, it's a disability. Theo
Some states require a learner to be accompanied by a licensed rider but that might not necessarily be applicable so long as you abide by the conditions imposed on your learners permit as prescribed by the issuing authority in your state. Ring them and ask. Nev.. '02 CBR1100XX #2
Short answer: you can, as long as you obey the restrictions on your permit. Eg with a VIC learner's permit, you can ride anywhere unaccompanied, but even in QLD you can only ride a 250 On a QLD permit, you have to have an instructor with you (either pillioned or following). On either of those permits you can ride at the speed limit in NSW, not at the 80km/h learner limit they have (had?). Just like a QLD P plater (car, even) doesn't have to display a P plate even when they're in the southern states, and conversely a VIC P plater will always have to display one, even if driving in QLD. It's the restrictions on your licence/permit that count, not those of the state in which you're riding.
