A battery is more or less a battery. Aside from getting the right
voltage, the biggest issue to deal with is usually getting one that
fits in the hole and has the terminals in the right spots. With big
engines, you need to make sure the battery will deliver enough juice
to turn the engine, but that's not likely to be an issue for you.

There's some chance your scooter might have a 6V system I suppose.
Note: Putting a 12V battery in it will NOT make it go twice as
    fast :)

Best option: Take the existing one out and take it to a bike shop.
Tell 'em "I want one like this".

  3. But will it charge twice as fast and can you jump start it off the car?
I'd go the bike shop last and a battery wholesaler first.

    Depends.

My first scooter took 4 D-cells.
