One other thought - if you can stick a small funnel in the hole, drain
cleaner might do the job. The 2-part foaming gel stuff seems to work
wonders, but might be too thick, so maybe try the liquid stuff.

    Grease gun didn't work then?

Don't have one - its on the list to buy though as this bike has about 10
    grease nipples.

Success on the blockage though - seems me going into the garage every
couple of hours over the last few days and squirting carb cleaner into
the hole has cleared it. Pipes and tap now fitted - I was going to fit
the clutch cover but it's a bit chilly in the garage so I decided to
    watch some cricket :-(
The reserve pipe routing is a bit weird, the exit from the tank is on
the opposite side to the tap, so the pipe has to route over the frame
tube which means that reserve on one side of the tank will be hardly any
    extra fuel.

Only the clutch cover to fit, fill with oil and set the timing and I'll
    see if it runs.

    Having owned a C72, 2xCB72s and a CB77, I just assumed you'd have a grease
    gun with this bike.
The pipe runs under the frame tube. It makes it a real bugger if you have
to remove the tank when it's full - I find a bulldog clip on the end of the
hose when you pull it off reduces the "petrol shower" effect.

If you run the pipe over the frame you might as well leave it blocked, as it
    won't work.
    Good luck.

That's interesting, I dug out the old pipe and it went over the tube, so
I figured that would be the best route especially when I realised you'd
have to remove the pipe to take the tank off.
Ta - running over xmas I hope

Mike, it'd be good to see it built back up and looking ready. Any pics up
    anywhere yet?

Will post some after xmas - it'll be all together even if it isn't
running. Latest ones are here, but they don't show much progress other
    than the exhausts on:

Will get it out of the garage and take some decent ones weather
    permitting.

Looks pretty good from where I'm sitting.
It'd look great against a backdrop of snow and cold :)
