What prices are people getting around the place at the moment?

154.9 here in Goulburn for ULP today.

If they keep this up, the servos will have to start hiring surgeons, so
you can pay by cash, card or kidney.

think... it scares me to look at it too closely.

Cost me over $50.00 to fill the BMW today, a first for me to spend over
$50.00 on a bike for fuel.

    I filled a bike (39$) a Jag (127$) and a smurf today ( home made bio so
    only $19.00)
still hurts now if the govco would piss off the tax we could afford
    fuel again.

Crude is still only at about $120 a barrel.
It'll go at least $200 in the next couple of years.

That'd be roughly $2.50 a litre or about where Europe is now.

Those 50cc scooters are looking better and better (well ok as long as it
    isn't a Honda one eh Johno :)

Sure, they can take the tax off fuel.. but they still need the money.
Instead of paying them $1000 in fuel excise they'd be just as happy to
take $1000 in bread tax or milk tax, or motorcycle/car/truck/bus tax.

Does petrol cost money? I just hand over the fuel card.

I guess when the libs take it back in a couple of years we will find
something else to complain about as the fuel will be impossible
( thanks swan and krud you bastards)

I actually think that the fuel tax (annoying as it is) is actually a
better way than the other options (like flat vehicle taxes) because it
has the effect of driving up fuel prices which cause people to economize
by driving less and buying more fuel efficient cars.

In general principle I agree with that, Geoff, but there are all the
other twists and turns of the convoluted tax setup which encourages desk
bound Sydney accountants to run bloody great 4x4 trucks as a tax
    minimisation strategy.

    Look at it this way:

Your average motorbike will travel somewhere around 20km on a litre of
    petrol.

How long would it take you to push it 20km? 4 hours?

So you're effectively paying a bit under $0.40 per hour of hard
physical labour. It's an absolute fucking bargain. Enjoy Peak
    Civilisation while you can.
