Hey.... You wrote something we can all agree with. You *are* "just as
right" now as you were then!

He is clearly confusing what is right and moral with what is the Law.

    Very different in many cases.

Well, actually, all that proves is that you're wrong again. You were
replying to Gerry in that post, not to me. :)

Well given you don't seem to be able to support your other opinions with
any evidence, I'll have to assume you can't justify that one with any
    objective either.

Indeed, I don't think anyone would disagree with that - inlcuding most
    lawyers I suspect.

Although I'd have to say I can't see any injustice in this instance - as
I suggested earlier I can't see anyone getting all excited to pay an
extra 10c a litre of the mistake was the other way around.

  7. Your assertion that he's rational is equally lacking evidence.

You know, there's no internet rule which says it's mandatory to resort
to name calling and insults on usenet. You can just turn off your
computer and watch TV or do something more constructive instead.

[chortle] You have to be surprised at the desperation that leads to the "I'm
not wrong ... the law is wrong" defence.
I can't recall anyone using that one before (no matter haw badly they'd
    painted themselves into the corner!).

  18. Many years ago there was this dude named Charles somebody. He wrote
books with names like Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby. And somewhere
in the book named Oliver Twist there is a character named Mr Beadle, he
handed out gruel for a living as I recall. Now, Mr Beadle's wife was not
into gruel, she was into more powerful stuff, like domination,
    especially of her husband.

One day Mr Beadle was told by the coppers that he had to make his wife
obey him. He protested. The coppers told him that the law said should
obey him. At that point he said, "Then the law's an ass!"

Anyway, that's my memory of a recorded instance of somebody saying that
the law is wrong. However, I've been wrong before ...

Well certainly there are stupid laws but the "I'm not wrong...." defence is
still bizarre if the law (however stupid) is being contradicted.

Since when have usenet arguments been about being right? Isn't the whole
point to keep it going as long as possible while being a complete arse? :)
