To all of you who are travelling to PI for the weekend (bastards!) - have a
safe trip and a fab time. I hope there'll be decent weather (ha ha ha, at
    PI?) and some superb racing!

I'm just doing the group ride from Cranbourne to PI -- not even
    going to go in!

  5. The riders won't notice the cold because they have warm comfy leathers.
The crowd won't notice the cold because they'll be pickled. The grid
girls will notice the cold, however, which will result in, errrm, goose
bumps. I shall watch the 125cc and I shall watch the Moto2 and I shall
watch the MotoGP, on a LCD telly in a centrally heated house with a
resident beer wench who has promised to supply my pre-paid beer so I
don't have to move from the sloth couch.

Costing me a little under $0.10 (in electricity).

I'm just trying to make BB feel better. Honest.

I guess that means Les is beer wench this year. [1]

Fine sunny snowing with thunderstorms with high winds and a strong
    chance of hail.

Now that sounds like an excellent plan to me. :)

I somehow doubt that Angie would allow for a resident beer wench, even
if I could find one, but the walk from the living room to the beer
fridge and back might be the only exercise I get all weekend.
With a bit of sun, the solar panels should more than cover that. ;-)

There will be less people going if it is forecast to rain (currently
Cloudy. Scattered showers with hail. Winds W/SW averaging up to 50 km/
    h BUT it changes hourly).
I'm going regardless of the weather. I think it will be interesting
because anybody you see will be a all-weather biker. 100% guaranteed.

Tonight I am going to put Mr.Sheen on my visor, inside and out - it
works just as well as rain-x, but only lasts for a few days (less if
    shot-blasted with 150 km/h hailstones).

I'm going to have a pie and a beer (this is an exception because
normally ride with 0.0 BAC -- I'm just asserting my right) in PI for
lunch and then ride back. I have a friend who, I think he's a chef or
something, is doing a curry night on Saturday night. Hopefully warm
    food will stop me shivering!

See you at about 8:15am Saturday 16 October in Cranbourne. Greg

I would have liked to have done the Cranbourne run (the weather would
have been better than yesterday when I rode down at least).

But I'm already down at the island and I was too lazy to get out of bed
    earlier than now :)

    Have fun!

Now I've done the run I'd say the best way to do it is to go on
Thursday and set up camp (securing the high ground is important this
time of year) then ride up to Cranbourne on Saturday Morning, leaving
PI at about 7:30am and do the ride and the lap.

Alternatively, set off from PI before 10am and do a U-turn when the
riders go past... and do a lap of the circuit.

"Alternatively, set off from PI before 10am and do a U-turn when the

    of the sack by 10?

Interesting: Wont be many fans complaining!

MotoGP star Valentino Rossi says the Australian Grand Prix has become
too dangerous to be run in October and must be moved.

Rossi echoed the views of leading riders in the paddock after wild
weather swept the track on Friday - but the main issue is the cold
    temperatures.

Even without the rain, Rossi says the surface at this time of the year
does not generate enough heat to allow the bike’s tyres to operate at
    optimum performance.

Advertisement: Story continues below This means they cannot reach the
heat they need to offer proper grip and become dangerously slippery,
    even without a wet surface.

High level talks in a bid to change the race date have already been
held between MotoGP organiser Dorna, the Australian Grand Prix
Corporation and track owner Linfox boss Andrew Fox.

Dorna and the riders want the race moved closer to the start of the
season in March when weather is warmer and more reliable

I still reckon the best idea is to get a few big tugs to tow the island
up to just off Broken Bay. :)

  19. Dick Smith had that sort of idea years ago, when he was going to tow an
iceberg three or four times the size of P.I. back to South Australia for
    fresh water supply
