  2. If he's like all the coppers I've ever spoken to, his answer will be, "15
    minutes ago."
Again, if he's like all the coppers I've ever spoken to, his answer will be,
"14 million, and that's just this since last Tuesday."
So coppers believe their own propaganda... what's your point?

Good question. Do you know what they were actually doing? Nowhere in your
story do you actually say that they were measuring the speed of passing
vehicles. So were they or were they not? They might have been doing
surveillance work or providing a visual presence for all we know.

When you've finished with these two cops, maybe you can start lodging
complaints to the Minister about the use of unmarked police cars, and
plainclothes policemen. Then when you've cleaned up the streets, you might
want to move on to outing ASIO operatives.

interesting you go to such lengths changing posting agents to hide who
you are , changing ip doesn't hide your the same person doing multiple
posts , I gather this discussion doesn't suite your agenda.

And if your precious 'system' is a tad personal and vindictive - where to
    now?

The turds refused to answer whether they were asked about where they were
    ensconced?

    Sucker.

Hehe, it doesn't appear to be the 1st time they have done that down there
    then!
It was probably 8 months I was down there last, and on one of the feeder
main roads that crosses Taren Pt Rd (sorry, am not from the area) I saw a
cop reversing in front of a small truck, and he literally wedged his left
rear wheel up into the gutter and parked inches from the truck so there is
no way you could see him from either of the 2 lanes approaching him until
you looked in your rear vision mirror (or maybe 90deg to the left as you got
    past the truck).
Very sneaky, I don't think there is anything to say they can't be sneaky,
they will only catch you if you are going at excessive speed anyway (he
didn't have a camera setup, well, not when I was driving past, he had the
pillar mount radar thing), they often use a bit of discretion and let you go
if you are only 10 or so Kms over, so I think that is fairly fair.
However this was the middle of the day, perhaps at night they would be mega
    bored and pinging anyone?

  12. Fair difference in intent there.
    So which was it?
    The surveillance angle?
    Nah. - Marked car.
    The visual presence?
    Nah. They were hiding.

    Try again.

I treated most of the rest of the post with the contempt it deserved .
However the idea of outing of ASIO types has some merit.
'spose you might find them in the Gay Bars.
Hell, if their sister UK org is any guide, you could kill two birds with
    the one stone.
    But isn't that naughty?
Bloody hell, they have to be that way, else ASIO wouldn't be able to stop
    them outing ASIO.

Did you ever think they were using the van as a barrier in case some pissed
idiot came flying up the lane and hit them. It is common practice to put
the cars like that. Complain all you want. It wont make any difference.

Besides, if your not speeding what difference does it make where the legally
parked police car is. And yes you probably were annoying them. Yes they
have every right to ignore you. They are human too. They dont have to talk
    to everyone.

In Canberra, their tactics are even more questionable. I once saw two bike cops who'd parked their bikes behind a bus
shelter, where they weren't visible at all to oncoming traffic until you'd gone past (and bushes in the median strip
obscured them from traffic in the other direction). The cops themselves were standing by the sign for the bus stop, as
though they were just waiting to catch a bus. Anyone other than a cop would have been booked for parking where they did,
certainly wasn't a legal parking spot!

You'll probably find that in Canberra, like most other places in the world,
police are excused from obeying some or all parking regulations. So what they
were doing was probably quite legal.

Cops have been hiding in the bushes to catch speeding vehicles for decades.
What exactly is the catalyst for the OP and others in this thread to start
crying foul, or just start crying as the case may be?

For the benefit of Toby and any others with comprehension disorders, the word
"or" indicates that possibly one, but probably not both of the alternatives
provided might be applicable.. they may even be mutually exclusive - for
    example "yes _OR_ no"
Sometimes the police actually want people to know they are being watched.
Apparently they were only hiding if you were approaching them from behind the
truck. The fact that the OP saw them when approaching from the other
direction indicates that they were in fact quite visible from the other
    direction.

If there are any other bleeding obvious points which you need to have pointed
out don't hesitate to reply. :)
