Piaggio Zip 50 Scooter

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Nick Le Lievre, Dec 9, 2008.

  1. I`m thinking about saving up for a Piaggio Zip 50 Scooter in Q2 next year, I
want to get the 2009 model if possible and from what I can gather they cost
around £ 1077 (current model) so I figure I`ll be paying no more then £ 1000
here in Jersey, hopefully less once you take the VAT off. I tried to pass my
car test a number of times back in 2001 but failed and I figure a bike test
    should be a bit easier.

So if I buy the bike I take it I need insurance etc on top which probably
differs here in Jersey, I`m 33 btw and I know its a bit of a teenagers type
of bike but the 30mph you can get out of one of these is sufficient for me
(speed limit here is 40mph max)

haha. Jersey resident "saving up" for a grand's worth of scootery
    shite. I pity you.
You figure, eh? I figure you need reminding to breathe regularly
(through the mouth, natch) - so **** off to alt.scooter where your
    sort are commonplace.

  6. If I`m honest I could afford £ 400 towards it now and have the rest by
February... I`m really low on funds at the moment as I`ve just paid for 2
holidays I`m taking next year... I have no savings, I`m one of the poorer
    people in Jersey.

when I say "doesn't seem very popular" - I meant "a random sampling of
    Usenet would indicate you're a ****."

Err... I passed my car test on my fourth attempt. I freely admit my
rubbishness in cages[1] but am quite comfortable with bikes.

[1] I've not owned a car in over 15 years.

  12. Beat me to it. I knew "liebre" was spic for hare, so guessed. But in spic
the hare is femenine so "la liebre". Not so in frog?

He could always sell some scrap computer components as 'working' then
refuse to refund when he's caught out....

I only have vague knowledge, but it involves, as I understand, stuff
'missing in the post', either on posting or on being returned to him,
and some very long threads telling him that he's a **** and should be
    giving refunds.

Borg of this parish was involved in quite a battle with him at one
    point, ISTR.

    He also supports Liverpool FC.

At the risk of being whooshed, not every one in the Channel Islands is
loaded you know - in fact, I would suggest 90%+ are just the same as
everywhere else - wage slaves, not tax dodgers.

    So he's a thief?
That would have been fun to see.
So many comments I could make here but I think it's best not to.

Surprisingly, despite learners being able to ride litre bikes with
nothing but a days CBT (it's bizarre)[1], in the two and a bit years
I've been in the 'other' island there has been not one motorcycle-
    related death.

In fact, the only deaths I can think of that can be attributed to road
vehicles were one where an unfortunate lad sitting next to the
roadside got run over and dragged by a drunk, and another where an old
couple had their car remodelled by a gate on a lorry falling down as
    it drove past their car.

[1] at 17, once you've done 'CBT', you can stick an L-plate on a GSX-R
1000 and ride it around for 2 years without doing a test.
