I did a CB750 sohc by myself - I wouldn't want to do it again. There
    again I wouldn't want another CB750.

Some people are stronger than others.
Its your back at risk, mine is fucked already and I would not wish the
pain on anybody. You only have one and once its fucked its fucked forever.
Why do things the hard way when suitable tools are cheap.

I've got one and they're fucking brilliant. Pity mine didn't come with the
    swivel base thing though.

Getting the fuckers into a newly stove enamelled frame without a single
chip, that's the real challenge! Boxers are a PITA, I expect Guzzles are
too, unless they are similar to K100 frames? K's are such a breeze, roll
power unit in on jack, raise, connect shaft and frame bolts.

The way SOBoxer crankcases are constructed shame it wasn't designede as a
diamond or beam type frame. Though I have seen "specials" done this very
way. It came along with the Oilheads of course, sort of.

  11. How you managed it on your own escapes me. Bloody thing weighed about
half a ton. And I wouldn' want another one either.

  12. Put engine on its side, suitably raised on blocks or something, and
lower frame onto it. I thought everyone knew that.

It was specifically stove enamelling. Even a twat with the cylinder head
through rags could chip the fucker.
Not that I'd ever use SE in this day and age.

It were customer's bikes and their special fucking orders anyway.

I lay the engine on it's side and lowered the frame (less wheels and
    forks) onto it.

Old carpet underlay is good. Morini 350s undoubtedly gain weight with
time though (I know I've said it before, but I'm even more certain of it
now - same as a bloke at the show today suggested the hillclimb courses
were obviously getting steeper and/or longer), but a trolley jack to
support them while lining up the bolts is a boon .

I can't see how one would help getting a Morini 350 into a 250 frame,
it's really quite a shoehorn job and any dangling bits suspending the
lump would hinder. Line the bottom frame tubes with underlay, heave
motor in to place on the padding then lift with a trolley jack to line
    up to the mountings.

I was thinking more in terms of getting it from the floor onto the
workbench etc. A platform jack is of more use in getting the engine
ready at the correct level to slide into the frame.

I did Pip's Bandit 1200 engine alone two days after I'd had a kidney
operation using one of those bike lifts you can get for cruisers. It
    was easy and pain-free
