If a person were to be away in Finland for a week and return home to their
(parked in the UK) frozen e34 and operated the frozen wipers is there a trip
    that needs reset or summat.

Cos I am that fuckwit, checked the 2 fuses in the engine bay compartment and
    all seemed OK.

Not sure if there's any fuses under the rear seat.

    Thanks for help

It was the fuse under the rear seat, handy one to remember on an e34 cos
    it's fuse 34

Stupid place to put such a fuse IMHO, would have been better in the engine
    bay fuse box

It does seem a stupid place to put a fusebox, but do you *really* want
another heap of wiring giblets under the bonnet?
    Glad you got it sorted.
If you want a spare pair of struts with good hubs/bearings and some other
stuff, I'm having a clearout in the garage in the next couple of weeks. I've
also got a really good pair of front discs (<2k miles) and quite a few spare
    steering linkages/balljoints etc too.
    cheers,

<contemplates standard angle grinder response, but doesn't bother as
I've been angle-grinding all morning & I'm sick of the fucking noisy,
vibrating, spark-spitting things. And my finger's bleeding. Lots.>

It gets worse - now I've been welding! Yes, that's right - assembling
bits of metal instead of hacking them to pieces. What d'ya say now,
    hmmm?

I am all in favour of other people welding, all the more to later turn
it into a shower of pretty sparks.

Just a firm grip at the front of the rear seat and a (bloody good) tug did
    the trick with mine.

Fuse 34 for the wipers btw in case you ever have a similar issue

    Cheers but the rear seats on the 7-series E32 appear to be different;
there's some kind of wiring loom attached to them too, presumably
feeding power for the heating and electric motors. I need to have a
scout around to see where the connector is, but it's not just the wiring
that's stopping the seat coming free.

I'll have to get stuck into it very soon I suppose. Next Sat?

I seem to recall the seats being similar on my e32 750iL apart from an
    additional block connector that is.

7L capacity, and using a good fully synth and genuine filter (as we always
do) is pretty much ok for ~8-10k miles in your engine anyway.
Hope nothing too major is up.
