I don't want to muck you about but don't worry about the other TS50X now.
His lordship was getting antsy and he's got his CBT next week and a stolen
recovered (twice but not recorded either time as the lad wasn't insured)
2001 Aprilia RX50 came up on the 'scope again locally.
Originally up for £625, then nicked/recovered with little or no damage at
all, then nicked again and lost lights/clocks but gained a very reasonable
respray in the one true colour. Runs beautifully but needs pads and road
    tyres, clocks and lights.
A bit of haggling, £150 cash in hand, and away we went with it.
No1 son's currently on our steep drive trying his hand at clutch control and
hill starts. (this will be a loooong learning curve methinks)
Apologies if not takling the other TS has caused you any hassles.
Thanks again for the most kind offer.

Perhaps reduced if it can be explained that:
    While the clutch is slipping
    * The delivered Go depends only on the clutch and not on the
    other bit (throttle).
    - Unless the engine stalls

This can be tested by getting the thing balanced on the
hill with the clutch slipping and the brakes off
and then reving the engine - no change in Go-ness
results as engine revs rise and fall. Someone already
skilled in hill starts can easily demonstrate this.

Use of the correct mental model changes the hill start
    challenge from some mysterious
black magic, balancing clutch and throttle at all times
to unknown and unknowable tagets, to one of giving the
engine plenty and controlling the vehicle movement with
    the clutch,

Of course it is required that the pupil get sufficiently
skilled in a sufficiently short time to avoid excessive
clutch replacements!! But how can it be more expensive
    than relying on magic?
