What are you running on your K1200S?

    Have you got one?

Michelin 2CT's, fronts last ages, the rears take a right pasting if you
    hammer it. Great tyres.

    Yep!

3,500 miles, 2005 model 2 owners, beautiful condition. Silver with the
luggage option. Bought privately, picked it up from Wiltshire this
    morning.
Metzeler Sportec-M1 on this one - assume are the originals don't think
the bikes been used hard (although what do I know - this could be 2nd
    set of tyres!).

Good man, you'll love it. Make sure it's had the new wishbone fitted & the
    throttle recall done.

You'll love it, get a MRA Vario screen, it really makes a massive
    difference.

One of the best Q bikes around.

Unless you are taking the bike on track days fit
    www.michelin.co.uk/michelinuk/en/motorcycle/details/20090202121683.html
More than one person on here will tell you how truly excellent they are.

I've been unable to catch them out, wet or dry.

How could I check on whether these things have been done?
I'll add it to the shopping list.

Ta, will look into those too. Not urgent but the rear has started to
lose its rounded profile - though doesn't seem to be resistant to
    tipping in nicely.

There are two different Michelin 2CTs, the Pilot Power and the Pilot
Road2. You had Pilot Road2 2CTs on the Gaytony I sold you.

I fitted those to my Daytona 955i and loved them - lasted for ever and
gripped like they had no right to for the price and mileage I got from
them[1]. A worthy replacement for the AV45/46s that are no longer
    available.

When the time comes I'll probably fit them to my Versys, but the
original Dunlops are proving almost impossible to wear out and grip
reasonably well, so I'm loathe to just swop them for the hell of it.

[1] 8K from a rear and the front went on to do even more cos it was
    barely worn at that mileage.

Just to confuse things further, I've got Pilot Power Roads on the MV
(pre 2CT). I wish they'd stick to a standard naming convention.

I really liked the M1s. Hammered a set around Europe on the MV &
    couldn't fault them.
I fancy a pair of them next, but they don't do a 120/65 front.

Have you tried 120/60 and 120/70 sizes on the MV? When the silver SV650
needed replacement tyres I opted for a 120/70 instead of the stock
120/60. I found it turned in quicker and was far more stable mid-corner
than before, even if the speedo did read a bit lower[1]. When the
Rennsports fitted to the CBR get thrown away I've got a 120/70 RS1
front that's going on, as that's what the race boys are using.

[1] I later found out from the guy I sold it to that according to his
GPS it corrected the previously hugely inaccurate speedo to very near
    spot on.

Most 120/70s rub the mudguard. Not heard of anyone trying the new
Mich's yet, but I'll check in the MV groups. To be honest though the
last thing I need is faster turn in. I've lowered the rear ride height
to slow it down a bit, but don't want to take it any further &
    compromise ground clearance.
