Why are you trying to stir up shit in AAC? That's a group I'll probably need (a lot) over the next few months, so I'd rather you didn't start a Brit/Merkin war tyvm! -- Krusty www.MuddyStuff.co.uk Off-Road Classifieds '02 MV Senna '03 Tiger 955i '96 Tiger '79 Fantic Hiro 250

Well, I'm not. I replied to a cross-posted post. It's not my fault the Merkins can't understand the difference between a year of manufacture and a marketing gimmick 'model year'.
It's the way they do things, & it's a generally accepted fact, being a yank car. But I was referring more to your initial reply to 'Dad', & the tone therein. Dad is to Covettes what Lozzo is to RDs, so challenging him on things like model years is really very silly indeed. -- Krusty www.MuddyStuff.co.uk Off-Road Classifieds '02 MV Senna '03 Tiger 955i '96 Tiger '79 Fantic Hiro 250
How was I to know that? Besides the point, though. Is he the one who reckons that thing would be cheap to ship to America - because it obviously wouldn't be. To all intents and puposes it's also a generic C4 Corvette, meaning the year of production of the toy is a bit of a pointless debate. He's still wrong about when the real ones were produced, though, 'cos of their stupid 'model year' stuff ;-)
I renovated one of those (Limited Edition 1976 I tihnk it was) for a geezer with a passion for, but no knowledge of 'Vette's. He thought it was the "full power" 410bhp version, (being "Limited Edition"), but it was the neutered one with a massive 190bhp afer the Californian emission regs strangled it. Looked good, went like crap. It's looking like I'll be having it back again soon as he can't seem to stop smacking things with it, or smacking it with things. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19

It was a fucking crosspost. I just thought a clueless numpty had appeared in one of the groups I regularly read.
You obviously didn't know that, or anything else about him, yet still chose to challenge him on a subject which you obviously know very little about. I really can't think of any reason for doing that other than to be argumentative, or a strange desire to make yourself look a twat. He didn't say it would be cheap, he said it would be worth the expense given the value of the car & the current highest bid. He was letting the seller know he'd advertised it as the wrong year. I don't see anything wrong with that, & it only turned into a debate because you challenged him. In your opinion, which doesn't match that of the vast majority of people in that (& other) groups. It's akin to telling a predominantly yank group that the spelling of 'tire' is wrong. -- Krusty www.MuddyStuff.co.uk Off-Road Classifieds '02 MV Senna '03 Tiger 955i '96 Tiger '79 Fantic Hiro 250

I got to watch it in peace as SO goes to Ceroc on Wednesdays. I suspect I might've had a "ty,ti" otherwise though. -- Krusty www.MuddyStuff.co.uk Off-Road Classifieds '02 MV Senna '03 Tiger 955i '96 Tiger '79 Fantic Hiro 250
