Aye, I saw that on the news when I got back from work, including the
interview with the guy who does the pistonheads website.

Well done to you all, you've managed to get some good coming out of an
accident that means the Air Ambulance (in more area than one, thanks to
you, too) will be available for a couple of more flights without
resorting to counting the pennies to decide - on a daily basis - if it
    can go out or not.

It's heartening to see that the Hamster is getting better too,
certainly doing a lot more in such a short time.

Great news from the hospital, he's on a general ward now.

The guy in the interview was pistonheads news editor. The site owner is
more of a behind the scenes web techy.

Someone just donated 50 big ones. He's either a generous wealthy guy or he
going to get a bit of a shock when he checks his balance next....

Cheers TOG. In the light of Mindi Hammonds statement, we've decided to
    keep
the appeal to the YAA only, but we've added a note encouraging people to
search for their local air ambulance charity on the justgiving.com site
and donate to them as well. We just feel we have to respect the family's
    wishes.

The CEO of the YAA has now announced (with our agreement) that the money
will go towards a second helicopter for Yorkshire. "Hammy's Heli" will be
based in S.Yorks and will help cover the 330 flights a year the Leeds
based chopper can't make to due to bad weather/maintainance/already on
    another job.

Accordingley the target total has been raised significantly...

After a mystery donator splashed 50k late last night we're up to
140,719UKP and climbing at arount 40 quid a minute currently .:))

tallbloke () gurgled happily, sounding much like
    they were saying :
Ummm, will he be paying at least the income tax on that donation in this
    tax year? Because if not...
