Hmmm. On balance I'd say, no, it's not. But then I would. Seriously
though, my wife is a pharmacologist, and I've worked in Drug
developement for many years, so have picked up a little knowledge
    along the way.

  3. Ah, fair enough then.
I have one neighbour who is an accountant and another that's a farmer.
Anybody want any advice or opinions on either profession, just ask.

  5. From memory - very few compounds are absorbed in the stomach (alcohol
being one that is - partly anyway). The coatings work to prevent the
acidic environment of the stomach from breaking down the compound
until it hits the alkali environment of the gut. There are other
techniques (the company that Dad worked for had an asprin formulation
that used microcoated granules of various thicknesses to ensure slow
release in the gut) depending on where you want the compound to be
released (stomach, upper intestine, lower intestine et. al.)
Paracetamol doesn't get absorbed by the stomach[1] as far as I know (but
asprin/ibuprofen does partially) - which is why I take them with a fizzy
drink if I want them to act quickly - the CO2 effervescence make the
pyloric sphincter (at the bottom of the stomach) open more quickly than
    usual.

The bubbles in fizzy wine have the same effect - although alcohol is
partly absorbed (30%?) by the stomach it's more quickly absorbed by the
    gut.

    Oh blessed sleep.

I'm rock hard me, no pain killers for a week. If there's even a tiny
chance that it will impact on bone healing then I've cut it out. As
well as the tablets fags, coffee and fizzy drinks have all gone.

Physio has changed my exercises today so I'm using the leg press
weight machine and actually feel as though I'm getting somewhere with
ankle flexion. I'm taking 4 different vit & mineral supplements and
rubbing comfrey oil into my leg (which surprisingly would appear not
to be snake oil) on a regular basis.

Have decided not to go for comfrey tea as I don't want to aggravate my
liver after the problems I had last year.

If there is still no bone healing in early Sept when I'm next due at
fracture clinic I will pout and stamp my good foot.

That would be interesting if you can't weight bear on the bad one :)

    Good luck.

I found out that I needed a bone graft on my birthday. Not the best
