  1. I can't think of a single reason to get a mac and then run windows
    inside it.

It's because I get people sending me files in proprietry file formats
that can only be opened in a Windows program - usually things like
Publisher, Works, and even Able Office to name a few [1]. It's quite
handy to be able to quickly run a viewer on the Mac, and copy/paste
stuff across to a usable format.

[1] It's made worse by the fact most of it could be done in a plain text
    editor.

If I could find something that would read my existing business accounts
and the Actinic stuff on OS X, the VM would be gone.

  8. I can't think of a single thing that would be sent to me in Publisher,
Works or Able Office that I would want to open.

  9. well, yeah, I can see that.
Oh. Yes. That's the only thing that's going to hurt about going mac
    full-time.

There are alternatives, but I've spent about 300 quid on digital OS
maps for it so I'm sticking with it.
I've not managed to find a Mac newsreader that doesn't do my head in.
So running a small XP vm in VMWare Fusion isn't too much of a
    hardship.

And in v3 the Unity function is supposed to be a lot better so Agent
will appear seamless on the OS-X desktop.

  12. Microsoft money. I've been using this for effing years. Unfortunately
it's not going to be supported much longer (although this doesn't really
    matter I suppose).

Well, yes it does rather. I'm not going to go through the hassle of
moving from 1 (currently unsupported) programme to another (soon to be
    unsupported) programme.

If I make the switch it'll be to something on OS X.

And there's no point until I get rid of the client that requires
Actinic, or there's an OS X version of that as well.

  14. Hmm.. well it doesnt' matter greatly to me. Until such time as it
    doesn't run anymore on Vista/XP/Windows 7 running on whatever PC/OS I'm
using then it isn't really an issue.

That's one of the main pieces of software that I have to find a
replacement for. Ideally one that can sync with an iPhone as well.

I've been using Quicken for banking on my Mac. I don't know if there's
an app for that or no.

  20. In message <>,
Which has (on the Windows version at least) not been supported for while
now since they sent me the latest version FOC and cast me off.

Which is a shame as it's my money prog of choice and seems to Just Work.
