Just had a phone call asking me if I wanted a discounted subscription to Bike magazine. When I advised them that I wouldn't mind but I was not willing to give out my credit card details to someone who'd called me out of the blue they got a tad grumpy. I told them if it legit to mail me the offer and I'd see about it but they still were a bit off. Is this legit or is it yet another scam? My bet is on scam -- Steve Parry BMW R80RS, BMW R45, 03 BMW R1100S Boxercup, 07 K1200GT SE 95 BMW F650, 87 Yamaha FS1, Sukida SK90PY, 91 Kawasaki AR50, 07 VW Passat SE Estate for comfort www.gwynfryn.co.uk
says...> Probably legit, similar experience here with another mag offering something like a free issue of several mags if you rung in - then of course the hard sell and when informed that "no, only interested in the free samples for now thanks" the tone changed quite dramatically and what was quite a pleasant exchange turned decidedly frosty.
Jeremy typed: Heh - had the same with a "free issue" of TWO recently. Once I had declined the 'three-issues-for-a-pound' offer (which involved CC details) and just asked for the free issue as promised, the guy got very unimpressed. I got my free issue. It was shite. -- Rich B 1971 S2a 1995 XT600E 2003 ST1300 Pan European Oh, and a Ford Take out the obvious to email me.
it's part of the Huge! Devastating! Depression!! everyone's running around like headless chickens. Even the bank. They phoned the other day, did we want to convert our overdraft facility to a loan, at, I may say, 2% higher interest rate... Not really, no. There was a thing in the Times the other day pointing out that half the problem at least is hype, it's not actually that bad (yet) but it's being talked up so loudly and wildly that everyone thinks it is.
Ta .. may be worth pointing out to the powers that be that people really shouldn't be asked to give CC details over the phone on unsolicited calls -- Steve Parry BMW R80RS, BMW R45, 03 BMW R1100S Boxercup, 07 K1200GT SE 95 BMW F650, 87 Yamaha FS1, Sukida SK90PY, 91 Kawasaki AR50, 07 VW Passat SE Estate for comfort www.gwynfryn.co.uk
