Well, how rows of seats albeit unreserved can be considered 'cabaret
    seating' I fail to see.

An excellent night. The lad began to flag a bit towards the end but the
    encore woke him up again.

Anyway, thanks for bringing this gig to my notice. A classic bit of UKRM
    serendipity.

Don't forget to visit the Alan Watts web site.

  3. Show of hands gig
I think the tables would have worked better. I was bouncing up and
down in my seat to 'roots' (and a few others) but didn't actually get
up and dance. I need to see them in a tent at a festival next year.
The youngest is very grumpy tonight due to lack of sleep but as
they've both just gone with their father, I don't care :)
It does that, lovely to meet you, I failed to buy you a pint though,
must be remedied in the future.
Hadn't forgotten, wrote the name down so I wouldn't forget, thanks for
the quick link, will view later.

Can't beat the marquee and mud atmosphere. BTW there is a *free*
festival at Baggeridge Country Park just down the road from us every
September (the weekend of the end of Manx week usually). No charge
except for camping. I don't think they can run to Show of Hands on the
bill, but for the last two years the final set has been from RCajun and
the Zydeco Bros. from oop your way (serious bopping music). Also John
Richards our local singer songwriter (mentioned by Phil) often has a
band or duo there. A real ale bar, craft stalls and the like. The
weather is usually good so it is more likely to be marquee and melatin
    production conditions.

I have mine insisting on stopping up to see Children in Need tonight,
and we are also supposed to be going to a barn dance on Saturday.
The pleasure was mutual. I intended to catch up with you again in the
interval but I got waylaid by a young lady who works at the place I do a
couple of days on site at and recognised me. Seems that despite being
very much one of the younger generation she is seriously in to
folk/roots music. SWMBO and I had to give her a run down on all the best
    local sessions.
If you want to bounce any ideas off me as a result of your visit email
me off-list. I have several of his books which I could lend you.

  5. Music in tents
I'll note that for next year.
It is indeed, seen them a few times.
I'm planning on doing a lot more festivals next year, it seems to be
one of the only places my politics and interests come together.
There's still the Bedworth festival at the end of this month.

Excellent. Give me a week or so, I've banned myself from buying any
more books until the 20 that were in the living room are read, so
    that's the priority atm.

  9. It was for me, but I went to the main website, and followed through the
links. Works if you do that, rather than using this link, for some reason.

    Seems appropriate, somehow.
