Pissing weather & drying laptops

The last laptop I got wet (spilt a G+T over it) was a case of open it
up, let it dry, reassemble. It took two days to get it right as the
keyboard membrane had got wet, and needed to be cleaned twice before it
    worked properly again.

I wouldn't recommend trying to drain it - the laptop I took apart had
electronics (including capacitors) around the display. I'd unscrew the
lid screws, take the back off and leave it flat to dry.

However, if it's just a bit of damp between the display and an outer
protective layer you might be able to take the front bezel off, the
layer may fall out, leaving you a minute's job with a clean, dry cloth.
    No promises though.

Tried that, but I can't get it fully off, and it doesn't look like an
outer layer would come loose. And it's definitely wet in at least two
    layers anyway.
    Cheers anyway.

  5. Fizzy pop noise from the display might convince you otherwise.

Just in case anyone's interested, I thought I'd update you on this.

Thanks for the input, but in the end I went with my "leave it turned
on and just let it dry out under its own heat" approach. Which has
worked just fine. One of the two layers is now completely cleared,
with the other one now reduced to just a few spots.

Nothing went fizz and there's no visual sign of deposits in the
display, so I'd call that a result.
