Heh. Buckleys of them ever showing up at all I think.

Which is annoying... but if they aren't selling Brevas I expect JSG
will think a retro will sell even less.

Mainly of course because the dealer network is awful. They want
dealers with fancy showrooms but the good dealers figure the bikes won't
move fast enough so don't take the dealership.

So they end up with some dodgy ones. (OK it is hard to find a
non-dodgy dealer of any kind in Sydney....)

I have a serious grudge against Motorino, so if a Classic ever does
show up, I would rather buy from Pauls in Richmond or take a holiday
to Brisvegas and buy from Tommy Newell then get Dave Ward to service
it.

Mmm I'd respectfully disagree - I'd suggest the valuation models in
question have little correlation to the excreta currently being
distributed by the oscillating device.

The primary / root cause of the world's woes are 2 things - one poor
regulation of financial markets in the US - specifically

1. the deregulation of the US banks started by Reagan & Bush Snr,
continued by Clinton and finally removed by Dubya. Much to the
surprise of some here I'm sure, I'd blame Clinton most (for repealing
the Bear Steagall) and Dubya second for deleting pretty much
everything else (although I suspect if Clinton hadn't done so, Dubya
would have anyway, fact is the rot got most of its momentum when
Clinton kept Bush Snr's "reforms" going - Ronnie and Snr only took
baby steps, it wouldn't have taken a lot for Clinton to have bought
that back under control - but he didn't.

2. Failure by the ratings organisations Moodys and Standard & Poors to
do their jobs effectively (the CDO's were mislabelled successfully as
AA when they weren't anything of the sort). I'm still gobsmacked
they've escaped culpability to date. The US senate should be tearing
them a new one right about now (which they're not).

Everything else is consequential from the above.
Including:
- the US housing boom and bust.
- The potentially imminent Australian housing bubble bursting
(although it has a couple of things supporting it(1) which the US
doesn't have, so it might just go a bit soft and rubbery if we're
lucky)
- US multi trillion debt and negative current account balance
- the stockmarket crashes
- the commodities crashes
- the oil price spike and bust (NB the bust isn't sustainable - it's a
great time to buy oil stocks).

etc etc

(1) net positive immigration centred on a small number of cities,
negative gearing, and no "non recourse" mortgages for domestic housing
for example. To a lesser extent the commodities markets will help
support a price floor to a small extent but not nearly as much as the
real estate sector are making out.
