Pizza(?) in Canberra with Boxer

    Ok folks,

I'm a crap organiser of social events and I don't even know most of you
    buggers, so bear with me.

As mentioned earlier, the Boxer family is coming to town. It'd be nice to
get together with other Canberra/ACT region ausmotians. Boxer likes the idea
    of pizza or Italian (yum).

If we have a sit-down thingy at a reasonable pizza restaurant I will need to
know roughly how many ppl intend coming.

Soooo..... show of hands please? Responding here is fine, or to bikerbetty
    at gmail dot com

It will be somewhere between 18-23 Jan. I'm thinking the Friday (19th) or
Saturday (20th) would be best - but would appreciate your input if you
    intend coming.

The matter of a venue --- I'm assuming we have an even north/southside
split. If we do a pizza place, choices include Zeffirelli's (Dickson)
Woodstock (Garema Place Civic) or that Wood Fired Pizza place (one in Civic
I think, but also in Woden?) Any other suggestions? (polite ones if you
    can.....)

Not trying to make this difficult, honest <grin>

betty, off to Deni for the weekend,
and hoping to be overwhelmed by
responses by Thursday 11 Jan (coz
I'm riding to Victoria on Friday 12 and
won't have time to organise anything
    after that!)

Way overrated. Noisy, cramped and substandard pizza
Pretty good pizza, though it was 3-4 years ago for me
The italian restaurant near the old chesspit in civic mall had some great
grub, but dunno if they do pizza

Minx and I will be there (wherever "there" turns out to be).

We can't really recommend a place, since the last Canberra restaurant
we went to was an Ethiopian place[1] in Dickson about 2 years ago.

[1] Surprisingly large servings[2], and very tasty.
[2] Just short-circuiting the "starving Ethiopan" jokes. ;-)

I am flexible about the type of restaurant (not Maccas etc) so I will leave
    it up to the locals.

I will be staying at 100 Northbourne Av.

So..... Tex..... does this mean you'll be joining us? I'm leaning towards
Woodstock at this stage as a central location. I don't know where the old
chesspit is/was, so I have no idea which Italian place you mean! (Have only
lived in Canberra for 10 years, after all, and and for most of it never got
    anywhere near Civic!)

Don't try to turn this into a democracy Betty. If you ask for opinions
you'll just get them. Make a booking where ever you want and tell
everyone where to go. (that's the sort of communication which
ausmotions seem to relate to the best :) )

Oh; and make sure you clearly state whether it's the Melbourne Canberra or
    the Sydney one!

  11. With that kind of help, success is assured. Nev.. is right: book
Woodstock and be done with it. If you make it the Friday I might make it
(for some that's a compelling reason to choose another night).

    Sounds like a good choice.

  14. Friday nights are bad for me, and I've got previous commitments for the
19th January. And Woodstock is on the wrong side of town. Sorry.

[1] That means 'very very good'

    cheaper
