Unless I'm on a bike, I tend to be in Reeboks.

Couldn't find that name, but they have these:

    http://www.silipos.com/c_prod_detail.asp?prodSecID=453x&site_area=f

    do you mean those?
BTW, that is not a proper sig sep, it should be
    <dash><dash><space><return>

You'll get flak, in here, if you don't sort it. ;-)

Not had a tear, but I have had severe bruising and that was bad
enough. I think a tear would have driven me to saw me bloody leg off -
    much less painful...

  9. Yeah, mine went away eventually.
That is getting worse, though. Stayed in a college in Oxford for
a conference just three years ago, and didn't notice that there was a step
down immediately inside the door. I stepped into the room with the last
cm or so of my shoe-heel caught on the top of the step. I don't know
exactly what happened then, but it bloody hurt. I keep jarring it again
when I catch my shoe on a bit of uneven pavement, and it sometimes hurts
    spontaneously.

Also realised tonight that I've been having a strange pain right in
the tip of my big toe for a few days. Haven't worked out a reason for that
yet; it's not a joint so it can't be me old mate Arfur. Nor gout.

I had this last year. It coincided with a period of relative inactivity.
The "blue dot" orthotic things help. My local independent pharmacy[1] sold
something similar to the ones that TS recommends. Just the heel supports. I
still have them in a pair of trainers.

Miraculously, when I changed jobs and became much more active the problem
    went away.

There are some stretch excercises which help, too. If I feel a twinge
nowadays, a couple of stretching sessions seems to do the trick.
http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/23068803/ describes what you need to do.

With my current affliction, the wonky knee, I've found using a bean bag as
a foot rest under my PC desk helps. You can do a number of excercises to
keep the muscles working and the beans provide some gentle resistance.

Oh, and finally, the problem would never have occured if you weren't such a
    fat ****.

First time I've had it since the weight went on about 20 years ago.

I was fucking plagued with it when I was a skinny sod and did far less
than I do now, though (6'2" and 11st).

    Oh, BTW, sod off, stumpy!

  12. This can in turn lead to severe earache... at least it did when SWMBO
    had it.

Not a good one to have anyway, due to the tendency for it to recur
    (1).

    (1) Plantar Fasciitis, that is - the recurrence of earache is a given
    when you're married.
