"North Wales Police have been accused by the force's officers' trade union
of spending more time chasing penalty tickets than solving crimes.
A North Wales Police Federation survey found many disillusioned, believing
the job was more about issuing tickets than dealing with victims of crime
    properly."

BBC Wales just interviewed, on TV, a chap from the Police Authority. He
admitted that he had no idea that the morale of police officers was low.
Nice to know they have their finger on the pulse.

Is it just me being stupid here, but should police officers feel that
their job is dealing with the *perpetrators* of crime, not the
victims. Shirley the community officers can be sent round to put the
kettle on and say, "There, there, love" while the real coppers go and,
you know, catch criminals and stuff.

Which job would you prefer? The one where you get stabbed by a 12 year old
or the one where you have a cup of tea and a gypsy cream with *someone
else* who has been stabbed by a 12 year old?

I'd prefer the job of driving around in a fast car with all wee-wah
lights being patronising to people who will, almost certainly, sit
quietly and take it in the hope that I'd let them off with a warning
    (I wouldn't).

Sounds like North Wales police is the force for me.

Is that because you enjoy folding letters and stuffing them into
    envelopes?

Or would you rather be in the other half of the force, the half that
opens the return letter, stamps the licence, puts the cheque onto the
pile, and sends the licence back again?

  8. Let's face it; if you pop round for a cup of tea with a stabbing victim
you'd end up doing it yourself while they bled all over the carpet. Not
    very relaxing, really.

I'd imagine that very little of that goes on in north Wales (well apart from
in Rhyl but that's annexed as a suburb of Merseyside nowadays).

I'd strongly suspect the reason why NWP spend so much time on traffic
offences is boredom, and justifying their existence, as overall crime in the
region would probably be below average.

Certainly the offences one sees as common in cities just don't seem to be as
    big an issue here.

I'd also suspect the reason Mr. Brunstrom is so vocal compared to other
Chief Constables from other areas is he simply is not as busy as others as
the overall crime figures, are appreciably less, and certainly less serious
than forces with more urban areas within them.
