  2. That thing was sold in this country as a Honda Pan-European. I rode the
1100cc a couple of times over long distance, and, after careful head
checks to ensure there was no-one like you around, exceeded 160k several
times and then backed off. No problems at all. Possible causes for your
    problem:
    1. Stupid paintwork.
    2. Equally stupid stick with light on top.
    3. Stupid extra-high screen (but that is what you are trying to prove,
    isn't it).
    4. Stupid speeding by ill-trained plods: problem only manifests at 145k
    - 160k, well, slow down. Motorbikes are da-a-a-angerous!

For someone who hasn't really been on here all that long, you're
    trolling Shane like a champion.

It is a fact of life that I have a duty to interact with the community I
serve, should that involve help or abuse, such is life and I still get paid
at the end of the month.

I would be most disappointed if this was the sole response from a great
    country such as Australia.

Huh ? What country are you in Andrew ? In Oz it was sold as an STX1300 -
    are you a Yank(1) or sumthin' ?

(which now seems to be labelled ST1300ABS hmmm, when did that happen ?)

    JL
(1)if so what are you doing hanging out in here ?

Only Englishmen call the police plod, and the STX1300 was sold as the
pan euro in the UK, so I assume he's trolling aus.mc to reply to 'plod'
and give us aussies a bad name.

I feel like top posting .. that would send him right off.

  9. I see his blog has now vanished, but I thought he said the police bikes
were the 1100cc version, which I took to be the ST1100. The one I was
riding came from Bikescape [1] and they called it a Pan European. I
assumed that was what Honda called it. I'm aware the STX1300 doesn't
    carry that designation.

    [1] http://www.bikescape.com.au/rentals/st1100/st1100.htm, which should
answer your question as to whether I'm American <shudder> or not,
and if you can find the thread about who in aus.moto rode what and where
    they lived, you'll be sure.

I took the thing off, I was just interested to see if I would get any ideas
instead of just abuse from some asshole that hates cops, I can get that on
the street anyday, especially in Belfast, but I can do somthing about it
    there.

internet is a waste of bloody time I think

  11. Well, it is likely to be, now that you've pulled the blog, and if you
can't cope with mongrel humour, don't post to Australian ng. For the
record, translating my response to your original post:
    1) There is no history of the ST1100, the ST1300 or the STX1300 tripping
over their own triple clamps. Not in this country and not anywhere else
    AFAIK. [1]
    2) I've ridden the ST1100 at the (highly illegal in this country and
yours) speeds you suggest without any problems.
    3) After-market modifications can sometimes have disastrous
consequences. Refer the demise of the British airship industry after the
R101 crashed. Hence the gibe about paint.
    4) If we shouldn't be riding at 100mph, you shouldn't either.

My original reply was more amusing but otherwise indistinguishable from
the above. If you were actually trolling for someone on an STX who got
away from you, when you catch him, transport him here; we'll love him to
    death.

Oh right- aussie humour-- i've watched enough Billy Connelly tapes and
    should know better.

Our bikes are factory finished and were designed for amongst other things,
    fast ambulance escorts.

after the Omagh bombing, our guys took limbs wrapped in ice packs from Omagh
to the Royal in Belfast (+75 miles) and it had to be done quickly. My point
is the old ST1100 is as solid as a rock on the road, the new STX1300 is
lighter but causes these problems with steering.

Do you see my point now you kangaroo shagger!

  14. Lemme get this straight. I mock your original complaint and castigate
your blog, and you respond by hiding your blog and calling me a
marsupial fucker. You may be many things, Bill, but smart isn't one of them.

Since there has not been evidence here that the problem you purport
exists is real, perhaps you could confine your inquiries to Northern
    Ireland.

  19. Might have to offer him the spare room (kennel) when he gets
transported, given he's been farting in the general direction of the
sysadmins on uk.rec.motorcycles for chastising him about bad snipping.
