I have been stopped twice in the last 2 years by the same person both
times: Snr.(?) Sgt. B...S.....(!) First time on a marked BMW 1100 and
the second time on an unmarked grey metallic BMW 1100. Both times he
wrote my license number in a pocketbook, which was crammed full of
numbers. I have no idea why - presumably they do something with those
{date/time, licence#} pairs. He seemed to be quite professional.

A third time I passed a marked police M/C parked at the side of the
freeway, chatting with the driver of a police car. I don't know the
name of that one, because he didn't stop me. I thought "I wonder how
long it's going to be before I see him again!". So I made sure I did
*exactly* the speed limit in the centre of the lane. Two minutes
later, I became aware of a M/C arrive quite close behind me. He kept
a precise distance off my tail for about two seconds and zoomed off.
It happened quite fast but it was marked.

Police keep a record of everyone they deal with in their day to day
    activities. It's quite normal behaviour.
    Exciting story.

I can't quite recall. It was either the 70-200 2.8 IS L, or the 100-400 IS
    L. (neither of which I have any more, but hope to again soon).

    Cheers,
    Dale.

Actually, it was with the 100-400. Just checked the exif.

    Cheers,
    Dale.

How did you figure that out? I checked the EXIF too, and couldn't
find anything that would indicate on lense over the other.
