    What a bunch of cunts.

On the way to the EOSM, I used the "Cat and Fiddle" as it is the most
straight forward way of getting to the A515.

All the way up I was a good boy and didn't over do it (sunny Saturday,
    *loads* of bikes, therefore police).

Last few bends before the pub it was down to 40mph, sensibly I stayed
back as I know its a good fast stretch after the pub. I even hung back
to let dithering cars go left and/or right. Cameo over the crest saw
clear road and went for it.

As I was passing a car or two I noticed the van, parked behind a sign, a
white van, with the words "Slow Down" on it.

I was level with it while overtaking a car and then dropped my speed
down after passing. Unfortunately I seem to have misse dtha fact the
road is now 50mph after it enters Derbyshire as well so only dropped to
    60mph :-(

Having checked t'web, for a piccie of it, I note the Slow Down is on the
front so they may have got me after I passed.

At least they give you a chance, unlike Derbyshire plod !

After being bored shitless on what used to be a top road (A515), now
reduced to 50mph the whle way with plod cars patrolling I did some cross
country bimbling to avoid it today.

Saw this on an NSL stretch.

What really pissed me off, was that in both cases no one gave any
indication that there was one ahead, and in both cases bikes had passed
    me within half a mile.

Oh well, only 14 days to go .... :)

Where is the evidence, from what I remember of our conversation we were
    taking about SPECS
    http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/SPECS.htm

Now, from my understanding they are only used front facing, I have had a
quick search and cannot see any refs to them, being rear facing.

I still reckon what you have seen is them being set up for a contra flow.
Aye, not just mean getting pissed off by the bastards

It was very well placed, with a tree covering 1/2 of it and just the
    camera window in view.

    It's a fucking disgrace.
There's no such thing as law and order in this country unless you're behind
    the wheel/bars.
Round here the plod are knocking on the doors of persistent burglars and
telling them they have their eye on them and bragging about it in the press
like we are supposed to be impreesed by that. WTF is a persistent burglar?
Why aren't they locked up FFS.
A lad was locked up after battering some poor **** half to death, report
said he had about 140 previous offences.

I'd love it if the forces would do something to sort the scrotes out.

    That surprised me, too.

When I spent a week in Bremen with a Kraut colleague, she pointed out
camouflaged cameras everywhere - and almost every junction seemed to
have a combined red light / speed camera on it.

They've had those for decades and they also have decades of experience
    in setting up mobile cameras.

    I don't disagree.
But, if you are inside the speed limit you have little to worry about.

I'm not a saint or anything like it, but why is everybody getting so upset
about being nicked when breaking the law?

I drive over 60K miles a year and have a clean license. I also like to rip
it up occasionally on the bike.

What's the issue? other than the sneaky fuckers sitting there trying to
snitch you? Give then no reason and they will **** off with boredom!

.... where you can't possibly see them, like on one side of a hairpin
bend, with cars waiting round the corner to pull you over where you
can't be seen by other oncoming bikes.

    Bastards, they are.

No absolutely not. They seem to be coming everywhere though.
But most rural roads seem to be stuck at 40mph by proxy because of the
bloody lorries being kept at that speed. The A11 through Thetford Forrest is
a fine example of going nowhere!
The biggest problem I see with mobile speed cameras is when they can nick
you for overtaking a lorry doing 40 on a 60 road. You end up doing just over
60 to safely pass and wallop!

IIRC, the national 60mph limit will be dropped everywhere to 50mph at
some stage in the coming months, with local councils having to justify
why a specific road on their patch be left as a 60 limit.

This, combined with the ever increasing army of mobile camera vans
etc, is why people moan when caught.

Speed does not kill, inappropriate speed kills... sometimes.
Ah, right... no-one will be moaning that they've been caught speeding
along most rural roads then if that's the case, will they. ;-)
If someone is nicked doing this... do you think they shouldn't moan
    about it, then?

Kent CC seems to be well ahead of schedule then. Well, you can't get
anywhere within a decent amount of time anyway, so why worry.
