Not at the Manc end it's not. It was recently dropped to 50 and is currently crawling with plod. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Leigh area was dropped to 50 too, but only very recently. None of it would be my best guestimate. Certainly I can't recall any part that's 70mph these days. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
At the risk of being branded 'ageist', I'm not so sure these are recognised as 'The OAPs weapon of choice'. <says nothing> ;-)
The wanker was probably changing a CD or texting some other wanker a second before he spotted the camera. If "safety cams" are so effective, why are there not more accidents up in County Durham where there's only a single mobile cam and no fixed cam's at all? -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
I was eyeing up a Snap-on panel hammer in the drawer today. One end is flat and the other is a nice sharp spike. Perfect for making a hole just big enough to allow the insertion of an expandy foam nozzle. I feel an urge. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
"And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people". See, I think we have a precedent
Beav wrote in uk.rec.motorcycles: I've spent the last 6 months doing weekend commutes between Newcastle and Nottingham. This brings me through the interminable roadworks between J25 - 28 of the M1 that have average speed cameras and a 50 limit. I've lost count of the number of palookas whizzing through at about 70mph then braking sharply just before the cameras, only to whiz off again after passing them. Does anybody know of anyone that has had a NIP from one of these "average speed" detection zones?
A bit of a shocker really, Nige says something, people disagree and he then shuts up because he can't back a anything up. M6 to just past Haydock "back entrance".
Christ, that must be about 2 miles I must admit to not going under the M6 on the East Lancs for quite some time, so I'll take your word for it. It's still a well and truly fucked up piece of road now though. I once drove down the whole stretch in a Ferarri Dino at close to 140mph and it was entirely legal. 30 miles as I recall, but now we can't even travel the length of it at half that speed without needing eyes in the back and on top of of our heads to compliment the two we get as standard. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
The older systems were easily defeated. Go under one cam in lane one and out the other end of the area in a different lane. Job done, but the powers that be have caught on and are currently doing something about it. Like making it make no difference which lane you're in. I've done many runs to Stockport when it was "policed" by average speed cams and never below the posted, so it worked. I wouldn't want to be the first to test the new system though. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
That would require a religious defence though and I think that's indefensible. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
and yea, on the seventh day they stuck their head out of the window and cried "one more burn-out in this cul-de-sac, you pikey bastard, and we'll call the police".
No need, it's too close to Scouseland to be of concern Yeah and a few others roundabouts too. I think there's only two left now. The Greyhound still being the best now that it's been shell gripped. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
