Anyone else staying up to watch the US election?

I'm just about to make some coffee and put the BBC coverage on. Guess
I should fire up the laptop and use it on the sofa, to keep up with
    the web feeds.

I'm guessing that LN might join me. Anyone else?

Why are you bothering? You're incapable of understanding the results.

No. I have enough trouble staying up for UK elections. The first
results won't come in til after midnight and the polls in CA, OR and WA
don't close til 4am UK time. I'll see what's happened by the time I get
    up in the morning.

This is kinda my view too. It'll be more enjoyable to read all about
it after the event once the papers have digested all the details.

I must say that the run-up has been very interesting though!

Oh, and aprpos elections, as I have been paying attention this year, I
think that I have finally grasped the US electoral system.

I remember many, many years ago when some guest appearing on TMS
explained that he had an American guest with him for the test match and
that his friend explained the US electoral system and he explained the
Laws of Cricket to his friend. I can't for the life of me remember who
it was but it all makes some sort of sense, now.

Yup. I don't usually bother too much, but I stayed up for Portillo, and -
remember the final scene in 'The Long Good Friday', when the Bob Hoskins
character is being taken for a one way ride by a couple of the boys? I want
to see McCain making that face when he loses.

I'm going to see what happens for the next hour or so.

Hopefully B.A. Baraccus Obama will win, because Hannibal McCain has
obviously already escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los
Angeles underground. Today, still wanted to run the government, he has
no need for soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else
can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The Alaskan
    Team.

Sorry, my dialogue was stuck on Dave there.. nevermind, back to her
    majesty's BBC.

Yeah - will be watching it [1] until I fall asleep.

[1] Well, watching QI on Dave with the election on picture-in-picture
to keep up with the electoral college votes [2] in the corner of the
    screen.
[2] WTF is that all about?

surely they have something more interesting when Dimbleby needs a cup of

  15. Nope. It won't make any difference to the outcome.

As a complete aside while nothing is really happening ...

Obama's landlord when he lived in Indonesia died today of prostate
    cancer

I just knew you couldn't live without that useful snippet
