Potential employers vs Bikes

I'm potentially changing jobs soon and I'm wondering what the official
    line is on bikes.

    1) Turn up at interview in car, no mention of bike.
    2) No mention of motorcycle related interests on CV
    3) Potential employer first finds out about bike after turning up to
    work for a few days?

Do employers still look upon bikers as unreliable?

I was actually employed by a company (not the current one) *because*
[1] I owned a bike, for some odd reason. My (female) boss used to race
rally cars and thought bikes were a bit 'cool'.

    <shrug>

[1] Allegedly, this is what I was told after starting there.

Why is this even an issue?

I never mentioned it in my last job interview and turned up on my rat-
    bike.

I still got employed. There's no reason on Earth I wouldn't be and if an
employer discriminates against you because you ride a bike, you'd have
to ask yourself if you'd want to be working for them in the first place.
I think that's something within yourself you have to look at, man.

Done that for the job I am in.
went to Devizes in Wiltshire for the first week of training in full bike
gear, no one complained, although a few of the ladies in he office drooled a
    bit.
    Why not?

    Never a problem.

I'm not unreliable, but I just wonder what Joe Public thinks of as a
gut reaction when they see someone.

I believe there may be more prejudice against a gay person than a biker, but
    I may be wrong.

    WGAF what Joe Public thinks?

If you're not unreliable, this will come across in your interview
    anyway.

Like I said, if an employer discriminates because you have a bike, you
might want to think twice about working there and what other hoops
    you'll have to jump through.

BTW, you might want to see if they have any bike parking/bikes parked
there and ask about bike parking in the interview.

Hmmm well will they see your ER-5 all gaffa-taped up? Does the machine
make a difference? No it's all what people see and if it's peeing down
with rain and you turn up in saturated bike gear you may feel very much
    less comfortable.

I'd see it as a "potential issue" - you don't want to allow any
preconceived ideas about "bikers" to influence their choice. How you
subsequently choose to travel to work is another matter entirely.

I'd be inclined to take the car to interview.

My last MD was a biker and we got preferential treatment [1]

I visit most of my clients by bike for ease. OTOH when I'm visiting a
potential client, I suit and boot. When the deal is done, I make sure they
are not going to be upset by leather clad MIB's making the place look
    untidy.

It's a method of fucking transport for fucks sake, not a lifestyle
statement. Are you going to introduce yourself as a gayer?

"Hello, I'm Nick. Now before we start I think you ought know that I'm a
