So whislt clearing out the loft yesterday we came accross an old
suitcase that hasn't seen the light of day in nearly forty years.

Inside the case was about four hundred old photos mostly charting my
OH's Grandad's voyages around the world with the Navy pre 1936.

It took me about a minute to decode this picture before going 'SHIT'
upon realising exactly what I was looking at.

    This picture is potentialy NSFW(1)

Jeez, that's pretty surreal ... As you say, takes a while to realise
    what's happening.

Are the other pics also interesting? I mean, could you build a voyage,
say, of where he'd been etc.

An uncle of ours who died a few years ago was, we subsequently found, a
medic on the Normandy beaches and he'd took a camera with him! Sorry,
no scans of them though. He'd also been an avid photographer as he
sailed the world and auntie has a number of scrapbooks of his travels.
    Fascinating stuff!

  7. Nearly put me off my pork scratchings, did that.
Just think what he could have done with a modern dSLR.

  8. Nothing old about it - I still do 'em.
I meant more with triggering action and continuous shooting.

Indeed, I hadn't realised the sword in motion until Hog pointed it out.
Certainly as gruesome. Found a few of public executions in China.
Possibly. In the album he has written below the pics but it is quite
faded. The loose pics have nothing written on them.

I'll probably scan several more but all I know is that it was between
    1923 and 1936.

There's another here of a Chinese soldier at he end of his sword swing.
The victims head is just sliding off and the expression on his face
    tells it all.
