Up until not long before the big decline in photographic printing, you
could buy postcard photo-printing blanks, pre-printed with postcard
characteristics on the plain (writing) side. They'd been available for
utterly ages, probably as far back as Victorian times.
There was a huge market for 'personalised' photo-cards, just as there is
now, with every bugger and his dog setting up a darkroom in the bog.
