Prace bets... NOW!

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Wicked Uncle Nigel, Sep 17, 2010.

  1. Turns out that if you turn the key a gnat's cock past the steering lock
position on the Bindit, it puts the parking lights on.

Turns out further that this flattens the battery overnight.

    <sigh>

So, will a 25 mile A road and Motorway thrash have put enough juice into
it to start it this evening? Twice? (I need fuel).

****, I want my GTR back.

Must share the lock with Kawasaki because I did that on my bike too.

If the battery's not tired, then yes, plenty.
Why don't you just bin the Bindit so you get something else?

Don't all bikes do this? I'm fairly sure it's been a feature on every
bike I've owned since the mid-1970s.
Should be fine. But don't ask me to push it.
I bet that has the same feature, if you look closely.

    It really, really doesn't.

Steering lock? People actually use them?

I had a couple of incidents with steering locks refusing to disengage,
    so I avoid using them.

It's no fun having it stick, when you're outside a caff, miles from
anywhere. The caff, where you parked, is shut, you've returned from a
stroll over the moors, taking piccies and it's started pissing down.

It's even less fun with no breakdown cover.

It gets positively tragic, when the cost of recovery and fixing at the
nearest bike shop costs more than the sodding bike is worth.

All mine do too, apart from the Fantic which hasn't got an ignition. Or
lights. I'm pretty sure the other two bikes in the garage which don't
    belong to me do too.

I don't think bike theft had been invented then.
    The Jeep's the most modern I've ever owned, & that's 1996.

Yeah it will. I flattened mine by leaving the heated grips on all day.
Bump start from the AA followed by a mile ride to my hotel and it
started first push of the button the next morning.

Last time I tried bump starting a bike it was the GS [lays out excuses
stall] which is a bit tall compared to my legs and it was on level
ground. The bike came to a sudden stop when I jumped on it and let out
the clutch. I let it down gracefully on to the crash bars as we both
    fell over!

    I tried that this morning.

    Fuel would have helped.

was it a bump start or did they discharge a rapid charge load into your
    battery from a portapac?

ITYM "jump" start, no, as in connecting jump leads. I don't imagine
the AA man pushing your pride and joy up and down the side of the road
trying to get it bump started.
