  1. I don't care because last night was the first time I've played with and it's bloody marvellous!

The photos aren't that recent as you can see Tracey's bush

I think they're at least 8 years old, possibly more.

    Ah! Google Earth version 0.3.05.

Hold on a minute, GE is already on V (and that's an old one).

    Hopeless imposter - so far.

Thing about GE is that the user interface is truely a work of art.
    Please indulge me, I meant

    // WORK OF ART //

The local.dead.thingy is just not in the same league.

Well 's what I think anyway.

It is striking that the great M$ when given something to copy, does not

manage produce a significant improvement and in my view does not
manage to match the level /at all/.

End of summer, start autumn 2005 on mine. I can see my van and shed, no
    greenhouse though.
Late afternoon going by the shadows and direction.
Rows of beans are down awaiting sticks collection.

Well, that's a fairly recent photo here - I can see my RX-7 parked in front
of the garage and my mobile oil slick, sorry, the old Range Rover parked
    out on the road.

Mid-summer, by the looks of it...

I'm obviously being incredibly thick but I can't see how to get from
that search engine to a satellite photo of my house. How's it work then?

Put your post code in or navigate to your house etc

click the "aerial" button the floaty menu rather than the default "road"

Light dawns! It only works in a Microsoft browser. Won't go there again.

  15. Thank God you asked. It doesn't work on a Mac and Safari.

No, if anything it's a competitor to Google Maps. That's Google's
    web-based map product.
Big whoop. How old's Autoroute? As that's Microsoft's app-based map
product, wouldn't that be a better comparison?
Let me guess, there's an M$ or Microshite comment coming up, isn't
    Ah yes.
Well, I find comparing hotel locations easier on Live, I like the 3D
topographic maps (bit of a gimick though), but the simplicity of the
    google road maps is nice.

The features that both of them offer are similar, making it a personal
choice issue. They both show maps of places when you type a postcode
in. They both do journey planning. Why hate Live just because it's from
    Christofire, Jan 21, 2007
  20. I don't hate it, but those images are *far* older than Google Earth. I can
date the one of my house to sometime prior to spring of 2004.
