Problems changing down when engine warm...

  1. Hey ho

Yesterday the VS became *very* tricky to change down, the lever felt
stiff and it was a bugger to get from 2nd into first at all - and
neutral was a virtual no-go area.

Changing up is as smooth as ever, and it's fine when the engine first
starts - but after a few minutes, the symptoms appear.

Now, the clutch always bit at the very farthest in part - ie you only
had to think about letting the clutch out and it'd bite.Yesterday
though even with the clutch fully in, the bike would start to creep
    along in first.

Are the problems linked? What might be causing it, and how to remedy it?

Oil was changed no more than 2000 miles ago, and it's hardly a high
revving beast - oil levels are fine, and are regularly checked.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dave.

Your clutch is dragging. Creeping and difficulty engaging first from
rest are typical symptoms. Can't be anything else really, imho.

This may be due to adjustment being required, or worn/contaminated
    clutch plates that require replacement.

  3. Thanks Pip,

I'll have a shufty and see what damage I can do whilst I attempt to
    adjust it, then!
