Really impressed actually, really comfortable boot, to the point of
when I was breaking them in the day before the French Run and wearing
them around the house I forgot I had them on.

Interesting. My Puma ones are the most comfy I've ever worn. So far.

Assuming I pop in to the George White outlet on Sunday AM, I'll check
    them out.

And if Alpinestars gloves are good and their boots are good, will they
ever lose the "Alpinestars are shit" tag?

I loved the Alpinestar boots I had (still have actually[1]). After
some tens of thousands of km, much of it doing a splendid job of
keeping my feet toasty and dry, they were finally retired due to
general old age and replaced with an equally effective pair from BKS.
    Gore-tex continues to rock.

[1] I'm aware of the concept of throwing things away, just because
they've been replaced, but have never been able to apply it to things
that are still perfectly usable, might come in handy one day, sort of
thing. I recently found a pair of gore-tex shoes that had been
replaced, whose replacements have long since fallen apart[2] and had
been consigned to a cupboard in the gym. There's actually nothing
wrong with them at all, and have been brought back into service as
    general wet/winter shoes.
[2] Although I've still got them too, of course. They just need taking
to a decent bootmenders for new soles.
