The OEM Nordwest silencer has been retrieved. Surprisingly free of tin
worm and a quick swap for the Frigerio competition can reveals it
perfectly good enough to pass MoT scrutiny. It shows up how surprisingly
quiet the old bialbero unit is mechanically. A wire brush and some
Sperex and it will be good as new.

I now realise I am short of indicators for the beast so I dug out some
Motrax mini jobs I got years ago. Not LED but small bayonet 23w bulbs.
The standard Nordie ones take large bayonet 10w bulbs, so no flash.

Pikey side says get 10w small bayonet bulbs (a google suggests they are
available but not from Halfrauds et al), but will they be bright enough
in mini-size bodies to please the tester? Alternative appears to be a
Motrax universal relay at 20 quidish.

I wonder if that is what I think it is, I thought.

    The information given here:-

    suggests it is.

Dunno, but I will ask when I go shopping for it in black tomorrow. Do
you mean the VHT exhaust stuff or the engine enamel stuff ?

BTW, I thought you were a sparks expert - what about the winkers (no
    smut please).

New bulbs from yer local bike shop should sort it. Be cheaper than a
    Motrax relay thingy.

Never underestimate the pikey friendliness of my favourite Wolvo' bike
parts place. Apparently the small cap 10w bulbs are special order only
and no chance of finding one in a petrol station if needed in a hurry.
They are also pretty costly if ordered over the interwebby. My emporium
produced a relay which they assured me will drive four 23w bulbs for the
princely sum of six quid. Worth a punt. An afternoon of formal
scientific method armed with multimeter, indicators, relay, battery and
bits of wire will tell me more. I am sure the answer will be in the
google archives somewhere if I get stuck.

BTW, for Steve's benefit neither Halfrauds nor my shop stock Sperex as
such and nothing in blue. Settled for H's own brand VHT matt black. Odd
that Halfraud's didn't as they have loads of Holts and Simoniz stuff on
    the shelves.

I put a universal electronic car flasher relay on my Quota because the
original two-terminal one had a long lag between the button press and
indicators lighting; this was awkward on small roundabouts.

I had to plumb in a third wire to ground but that's all.

Funny you should say that. This is a three spade connector relay and
the OEM unit has only two connections. Schematic obvious? Haven't even
looked at the connection markings yet.
