  1. I commuted into central london for three years; I'm okay with all that
    he did.

I'm pretty sure this is a vid from an event a while back.

After complaints of a loony biker riding the same road each day (in Kent I think), the police decided to follow the biker on an unmarked bike to
    gather evidence.

To me the video is appalling:

    1. Why not film from a helicopter?
    2. Why not stop following once evidence was gathered?
    3. Why did the police rider think it was acceptable to ride so badly?

The police bike did the following several times:
    - filtering at 40+ mph.
    - Overtaking into the face of coming traffic.
    - Overtaking while another vehicle was alongside (I.e. the police bike was alongside the car it was overtaking WHILE there was a car going by in
    the opposite direction).
    - "Followed" the rider. I.e. If he can do it, I can - which any experienced rider knows is lunacy. You know, when you follow your mate & end up
doing as he is, rather than making your own decisions.

In summary, the police rider put the lives & well being of the members of public at risk through his own riding, on numerous occaisons.

Whoever thought up this should be severely disciplined as should the police rider himself.

Don't get me wrong, the guy on the bike is a madman & needed to have the book thrown at him. However, this is not an excuse for the police to
drive like him. It seems to me that someone cooked this up as nice jolly "I can ride like a loon & it will be OK - I got a great excuse!".

Contrary to popular opinion, plod don't have helicopters constantly
circling, waiting to film speeding bikers.
    Cos I think it's a fake.
    I didn't see anything bad.
I do all these things, most times I ride a bike.

    me neither.
Dunno why you say that. I thought the main ride was just fine -
actually, pretty good in the wet. It amused me that immediately after
the plod rider said "he's not very confident in the wet", the pursued
rider left him for dead through a set of corners.
    Very true.

  6. Heh. So do most people on French Runs. What starts out as a Saturday
morning bimble ends up as a high-speed follow-my-leader.

Bear didn't believe I was on my bike when I phoned and had a
conversation with him while riding. He had to believe me when we met 10
minutes later in Graham's shop. The Cardo Scala FM unit I use through
my satnav is incredibly clear, even up to 100mph.

It's been the subject of another thread in the past, and the same video
was used as part of a news story covering the biker's court case and
subsequent ban. That video has been doing the rounds for at least 6
months - I think it ranks second to Hitler's BMW as the most watched
    bike related video ever.
