If you were lucky. My mum "specialised" in torte. Though if we went
round their friends Richard & Daphne's (what a great '70s name
"Daphne" is) we might get BFG[0], or if they were being lazy, Arctic
    Roll.

I remember being allowed to eat the garlic bread that my parents
wouldn't eat (it was OK to serve it, no-one actually ate it) and
    playing Richard's Washburn sort-of-strat-replica - **** me, this must
have been about 1977 or so, 'cos "Star Wars" had just been released,
and I sort of "mastered" the theme tune on said guitar.

And then everyone drove home about 4am, drunk[1].

    Great days, the '70s.

    [0] we're *Doomed*[2]
[1] the police in NI in the 1970s had other things to worry about
    other than drink-driving.
[2] sorry Neal, you may not get this reference.

  2. If as they mature the person can see and admit what they did was
wrong then i think the relationship can be far stronger unfortunatly
many can never see thier own faults and get consumed by the anger.

There was a public bog next to A1 guitars in Manchester in the late 70's
that stunk of coconut oil. The bog was next to a blue movie theatre too, so
I'm thnking there's a connection, but all I know for sure it that oil
    *really* stinks.

In those days, getting to use the bogs in a shop was fucking impossible for
a normal punter, but thankfully once you'd been to A1 a time or two
(hundred) they caved and let some of us use theirs and it was either that or
get home with a bursting bladder. Manchester are in the process now of
closing all but one of it's public bogs and I'm thinking the guitar
shop/blue movie bogs are the ones that won't go.

So "Thinks about how my kids have changed since they were old enough to have
a personality" is basically a load of old bollocks then.
How much did you let yours go for and more importantly, how's the guitar
    playing going?

I've been thinking about this and I recall Rob posting various notes about
how Ross has been back home for a fair while now and got past "The Time".

**** me, he's even got a legal bike, so although I utterly detest the
thought of parents turfing their offspring out on their ear, Rob did at
least let him come back home and now the boy is heading in the right
direction. I'm of a mind to say "Good on yer Ross", but then follow that up
with "but don't ever kick your own kids out of their home"

  9. Would you expect less? My kids haven't changed at all, they are the
    people they always.

More slowly than I would like. I am having troubles getting motivated
about things at the moment and so am not doing it every day which means
the muscles and the calluses and stuff are not building quickly enough,
which means I lose motivation.... but I can go a little longer before I
get cramp in my picking hand so it is not all bad and I have made me some
carbon picks[1], which sound really quite sweet.

[1] From some 0.8mm carbon sheet I had left over from my aeromodelling
days. Balsa,, even the really expensive competition grade "C" grain
    stuff, is fucking crap.

  10. A little different from how I read kicked out. Told to live somewhere
else but still with a roof over her head.
As I've admitted above, I've been lucky. Long may it remain that way...

Maybe my grandchildren will be more like me than my children.

  11. You're right, I don't.
Glad it worked out. My fear would have been that he went from bad to
worse if it was one of mine. Still not sure of the circumstances I'd
need to suffer for this to happen. Fortunately it's not been tested.
As above my fear would have been 'kicking him out' would have pushed him
closer to them, removing my influence.

But as you've pointed out I don't know the circumstances.

Still pretty sure that whatever the circumstances I wouldn't have kicked
one of my children out though.,

it's a video game thing. You mentioned "Black Forest Gateau" which I
referred to as "BFG" which immediately reminded me of the "BFG" in the
(nearly[1]) original 1st-person shooter "Doom" i.e. the "Big Fucking
    Gun".

[1] I think Wolfenstein 3D was really the first, certainly it pre-
    dated Doom.

it really stinks of coconut - which is why it's useful in an anal sex

Probably a bit harsh, but i could have easily gone the wrong way, kicking me
out would have been the worse thing to do.
