That's pretty much the rule I had to live by when I was living with my
parents and I expected my kids to do the same. The major difference is
that my rules were considerably easier to deal with than my parents
    ones.

Yeah it's rather a question of degree and setting reasonable standards.
Having kids is voluntary, they don't have to be a reflection of self or in
    bonded servitude.

When my son, aged 18 started whining about his mother's expectations I told
him the same, put up with the rules or move out. If he chose that route he
had 2 choices, get his own place or come to live with me and accept my
rules. He STFU and stayed with his mum, thankfully.

As young teenagers I said to them that I'd treat them as adults as
long as they behaved as such. It seemed to work out pretty well with
very minor issues, OTOH my brother's two are nightmares.

Rule No1 - Don't be a fucking PITA to other folk in the world

    Hog, Feb 22, 2011

  12. "Don't get infected, arrested, or addicted and, in the case of the girls,
    pregnant."

Bin the residue left over after cutting out picks.
Some are bronze wound and "rough" to the touch, some are nickel, some are
flat wound and "smooth" to the touch. Some make a shit load of noise when
your fingers slide on them, others make very little. Some are fat fuckers
that require a vice like grip to fret and others are ultra light and thin
and bend as soon as you look at them thus requiring a VERY light touch.
Horses for courses and strings for fingers.

    Roll on June 2012 then.

This I need more info on as string noise is one thing that really does
annoy me. Which are the quite ones?

I'm retired & putting a grandkid thru college.
She got kicked out by her dad at age 17
when she asked her parents to quit fighting all night so she could get
    some sleep for school

She more mature than her parents

    Old Joke Alert:

A bloke walks into a pub and asks for a double Scotch. The barman asks
him if he is celebrating something to which he replies "Yes, I've just
had my first blow-job". "That's great" says the barman, "I'll make it
a treble". "Oh, I wouldn't bother", says the man, "if a double doesn't
take away the taste I don't think a treble will either".

    I don't think that's what he's saying. I think he's saying that he's
angry, or gets angry, anyway. But that he's found a way now not to
get angry at what his kids do.
