I'm going for my P's test tomorrow in NSW. I have no idea why they're
running a course on Australia Day, but they are, and it worked well for
me as I didn't have to take a day off work.

Is there anyone here who's done one of the NSW "MOST" tests for their
P's? Anything they may spring on the class?

I've been out practicing my U-turns. Someone had told me the U-turn bay
in the test is 5 metres, so I'd been practicing that and could "just" do
it. Found out today that it's actually 6.1 metres, so shouldn't have
any trouble there. I haven't practiced weaving in and out of cones as
much as I should've, so will do some of that tonight. I have been out
having as much fun as is possible on an EL250 on some windy roads
though, so I'm hoping that will do me some good :) Have been practicing
emergency braking from 80km/h. After a good, quick stop on the weekend
the warning light on my EL250 came on which was a bit odd. Went out
again after a couple of seconds though and hasn't come on again at an
    odd time since.

I just hope the rain holds off, it's looking threatening atm.

If all goes well I'll be at the rally in Canberra on the weekend,
proudly displaying my shiny new P plate :)

    Good luck Lex.
Remember; if you pass that's just the first step to learning to ride a bike
    properly.

    Good luck.
    Probably quite a few...

They don't "spring" anything on the class.

The test is not secret. It doesn't require any magical qualities, only
that you can handle your motorcycle with some degree of skill at fairly
    low speeds.
That should give you the confidence which is required to do that bit of
    the test.
Hope you did a bit, 'cos the EL isn't _that_ nimble.
I've seen an EL which would just stall, for no good reason, after the
"quick stop" bit of the test, but I think it was an isolated, lack of
    service, issue.

    regards,

Thanks for your support guys. I passed no worries :-D In the practice
runs leading up to the test I was constantly fking up, didn't think
there was any way I could pass the actual test, however I managed to
pull the test off mistake free.

Off to the RTA today to get a new bit of ~$20 plastic.

Congrats on the licence Sir Lex, but i must warn you of a few
things.......This is when the real learning starts, but if you keep
practicing the bare basics of what they taught you in the course, you'll be
surprised how much it will keep you out of trouble...it's more common sense
    really.

Cars won't give you as much room to move or lee-way now you're off your
L's...I found that out very bloody quick!! You'll be surprised how much
those L plates save you in traffic....no-one wants the responsibility of
    hitting a learner (lunatic)

I don't know if you qualify for the over 30's benefit of not having to wear
P plates on your provisional licence but if this is the case and you can
travel as fast as everyone else ...legally...mate, you'll have a blast!!
just don't get too cocky, practicing good road craft in winding roads can
actually be fun and very educational.

One of the big things I did when i got my licence last October was in the
following month i went on a 1700 km bike tour by myself visiting relos,
covering all up the New England Hwy to Inverell and Glen Innes then across
to Grafton then back down the coast back to sydney over 9 days but staying 5
days in Grafton and the learning experience you cannot buy.
I got caught in 2 hail storms (lucky to find cover from both) got rained on
alot, riding through thick cloud on the ranges from GI to Grafton and
couldn't see a thing (why don't they have power wipers on helmets?) a few
bits of interesting road works and a bit of slippy slidey in Nabiac and
nearly got sideswiped by a small truck comming back into Sydney but I
enjoyed every Kilometre...get out there and tour and explore...live the
    experience!!

    Have fun

    Cheers
