'Listen again' and look for "The Great Hargeisa Goat Bubble"
It's only 45 mins but it tells us why our great bankers earn the
    billions they do.

This was the second broadcast, first was a few months ago.
Timing this time is brilliant; just before the bankers announce their
    hard-earned bonuses.

If you don't feel like torrent, I can email it, but it's 43M

Other than that I'd be happy to snail it.

    A most entertaining story.

I also see it was first published as a short story in the Financial
Times, in 2003 (well ahead of more recent bubbles).

    It was indeed.
It's not new. That sort of boom and bust has been happening for hundreds
of years its only now with the rise of global trading that it has such a
    huge impact.

Is the iplayer reference in the OP not enough for you?

Listened to it earlier, anyway. Thought it was a pretty good satire.
Could have done without the Irish character though, anyone ignorant or
stupid enough to need a character explaining the plot in that kind of
child-friendly detail is hardly going to bother listening to it in the
    first place.

Perhaps Champ wants to archive it for future enjoyment on a variety of
devices? Yes, I know he could just stream it from iPlayer on his HTC.

I am not surprised to see that I might have to update my understanding
    of the history of econmics.

My respect for Thales remains in that he (apparntly) did not again buy
up futures contracts for use of olive presses when he realised the
harvest would be poor, with the intention to sell off his contracts to
the highest bidder from a neighbouring village before the harvest.
