    I'd tend to agree, but I'm just beginning to think that it's variable.
    I've had some awful coffee from all the major chains, and equally some
    decent stuff.

    That's a bit like saying all wines are the same because they're all
    made from grapes. Next time you're down the supermarket, buy a jar of
    the most expensive instant coffee & a jar of the cheapest *powdered*
    coffee, & let us know how they compare.

    Sort of, but by the same standard, they can all taste different. Much
    like there are several tastes of, say, cheese. Or shades of blue.

    Or the fact that the characteristics of things such as motorcycles can
    be vastly different, despite them all being "motorcycles".
