Got some pmr radios to use when sam passes her CBT on wednesday, so i can
foller her on the virago and put her off by screaming at her to hurry op and
all that... like you do as a caring fiance :)

But the scooters engine produces a racket that triggers the VOX on her radio
when ever she revs it past idle, even on the lowest vox setting it does
    that,

So i need to get a ptt switch for her, i know you can buy complete kits that
come with a little button type ptt switch mounted on some velcro or similar,
wrap the velcro round the handle bar, and your sorted,

But can you get them on their own?

We already have the speaker and mic mounted in our lids, and i really dont
want to change them as i got some speakers out of a set of high quality
headphones, and made my own headsets up, so the speaker protrudes about 1mm
into the lugole space in our lids and we dont feel it unlike some ear
    poieces.

I'm thinking of putting a ptt switch on my bike, and i was going to re-wire
the headlight flash switch to work the radio, (wonder if that's a problem on
the mot, i can't recall them testing the headlight flash function) if i need
to flash the headlights i can use the beam selector switch, which wont be
often as i'm the type of **** who wont let anyone out when i'm on the road
    :),

but the scoot dosent have a flash switch, so i can't do that, hence the need
for a waterproof switch on a bit of velcro.

Iggerent, over possessive, far too macho ****. Does the term "ride your
own ride" mean nothing to you? Give her the fucking space to learn and
while you are at it concentrate on getting your own riding right, I am
    sure you need to.

Then she should consider if a PTW is the right sort of transport for
her. Close to and moving past large objects is what you do, if you don't
you may as well take the full armour option of a cage.

Unless it has changed since I were a lad it is volume not frequency what
triggers it. Although a good one will have a very tight frequency where
it is triggered by the volume. An even better one could be trainable to
the strong frequencies in your voice.
As far as I am concerned there are two places to ride your bike, in town
and out of it but in both cases to be ridden at a speed and in a manner
    commensurate with conditions.

I don't possess a motorcycle capable of 160+mph so when thrashing the
nuts off mine when out of town I go slow enough to allow my
concentration on staying alive to lapse a bit, perhaps enough even to
comment on the passing scenery to anyone who will listen. I do sing
sometimes but I doubt anybody hears me. A scoot in it's natural
environment of the town can go nearly as fast as me in the hands of a
skilled rider and in the very narrow bits makes progress a tad quicker
and coping with that needs all the concentration I can muster.

She should be allowed to ride her own ride, she is just sitting waiting
when at the lights though. One thing I would recommend is the "Bear
Methodology For Learning Stopping Distances" and tell her to apply the
general philosophy to other aspects of her riding as well.

And there is another thing as well, you don't want her too dependant on
you do you? She needs to be able to find her own way back to the
kitchen if you want to go off with your mates.

Probably, my ridings ok for me, **** what anyone else thinks, if they don't
like it they can go swivel on the rear sprocket (if i had one that is)

I bought her the scoot so she can get her independance, was going to get her
driving lessons, but she wanted to get on the road on 2 wheels first, which
seeing as she's now 24 i thought was quite admarable (most people get a 50cc
ped when they are 16 only because it's all they can legaly get, once they
turn 17 they switch to cages and never give bikes a second glance (usually
    at junctions :)

It was actually her who asked for the radio's, she's got an angziety problem
(like i have a spelling problem) hates trucks when they pass you (both ways,
overtaking and coming towards you on the other side of the raod) she never
wants to go on a dual caridgeway let alone a motorway,

So i figured the radio would be handy for her first few rides, Hence i want
her to be able to talk to me,
the vox function works fine on my virago (prolly the lower resonant
frequaecies of the V twin 4 stroke motor dont trigger it like the high
frequencies of a single pot 2 stroke),

But i could set her radio to non vox and no ptt switch handy, so all i could
do is talk to her (do this, do that, don't do that etc) but i'd prefer her
to be able to talk to me (how do i do this, what happens if i do that etc)
She's asking me questions about how to ride on roads when ever we go out on
the bike or in the cage, simple things like what to do when the roads wet,
your going around a bend and theres a fecking metal drain cover in your
path, when she should filter through traffic (i do it all the time, but i'd
rather she leaves that bit out untill she's got a bit of experiance)

At the end of the day, if she dosent like me yapping in her ear she can
easily pull the speaker mic lead out or turn the radio off.

When i got my first bike on the road (at 16) i wanted to do it all my self..
radio's werent easily available then anyway (cbt was taken by riding a mile
or so and stopping for the instructor to give the next set of directions)
but sam dosent want to do the 'suck it and see' method most of us learnt to
ride by, so i'm doing all i can to give her what she wants, which is a way
to talk to me and me talk to her as we ride seperate bikes, at least for the
    first few rides.
