Bastard - came out from work to find my rear tyre flat as a flat thing, a
quick inspection revealed a fucking great nail in the dead centre of the
tread, phone the AA "someone will be with you in 45 minutes sir", phone wife
to tell her I'll be late home, put phone away, look up to see an AA van
pulling into the carpark - bloody hell that was quick - turns out he was
sitting in a lay-by just up the road.

Anyway he plugged the tyre and inflated it which has got me home but I could
hear it hissing when I got off the bike, anybody know if this is likley to
be fixable, bearing in mind I could see wire in the hole when I took the
nail out, so presume it has broken or damaged the steel banding, or is it as
I suspect, new tyre time, this one's an 800 miles old, Bridgestone BT021.

If there's a chance I could persuade them to fix it, I'll wait till the
weekend and get it done then, however if the FOAK reckon it's fucked I'll
take the wheel off and get the wife to take it and get a new one fitted.

I can't see why you couldn't repair it yourself to be honest.

.... or just get his Mrs to fix it?

  4. If it's bang in the centre of the tread, plug it and forget it.

The nail I picked up a couple of weeks ago went in at an angle and was
nowhere near the centre. It was still pluggable and seems to be holding
    just fine.
