....?120 computers are unlikely to as quiet as a ?120 PVR.

I'd quite like to build a bespoke system but the main point is I just
don't have the time or energy to **** about with one at the moment.

.... and it's good at what it does - we have one, as well as a Sony
    HDD/DVD.

That wouldn't open for me - but I'm assuming it's a small hard drive one?
If it happens to be a Thomson, AVOID at all costs. If not you might find it
doesn't recognise the bigger drive, or just sees it as it's current size
    drive.

I can guarantee you you wouldn't be disappointed with the performance of the
Humax, and the functionality, but again, 180 quid on something to record
    freeview is quite a wedge.

It's a barebones PVR (no HDD) at ?40

    "...

    Barebone Twin Tuner Freeview DTR

    Manufacturer: Nikkai

.. Futureproof your TV with a digital set-top box
.. Install a new or used hard drive up to 500GB capacity for 250 recording
    hours''
.. Watch one channel and record another
.. Pause live TV (time-shift) and use scheduled recording
.. 7-day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG)
.. Auto-formats the hard drive for video use
.. Compatible with most IDE hard disk drives
.. A full hard drive can be replaced with another

Take advantage of the low prices in hard drives and build your own DTR
(Digital Television Recorder). If you have a hard drive at home not in
use, simply install into this Barebone DTR and give yourself hours of
storage. The hard drive is installed on the under-side of the DTR and
    simply screws in.

  5. It's a basic, crippled thing. Not worth it, when by spending not an
awful lot more you could get something that does much more.
    The FAQs are a laugh.
