Where can I find out information about cleaning the carb on my bike (Aprilia
    RS125)?

The float seems to be stuck as fuel is leaking out of a breather pipe when I
    turn the fuel tap ON.

Take the bowl off, and clean dirt out with paint brush and petrol.
Take all the jets out, watching where they came from and put them back
after cleaning them out with air.

Getting a Haynes manual is your first step, or workshop manual. Clymer are
shit in my opinion, but that's just me.

Anyhoo, grab a bottle or three of Nulon carby cleaner (I reckon it's the
best 'cause it stings the most when it gets in your eye) and strip the mofo
down paying particular attention to where your mixture screws were to start
with. When you've got it all apart you can inspect individual parts for wear
n tear, and work out exactly what is going wrong.

The biggest thing to remember is just to be really patient and carefull
about everything. It's easy to damage internal parts by being ham fisted
etc. Make sure you also set yout float levels correctly on reassembly (this
infact may be your problem, or it could be stuck, or your needle and seats
may also be stuffed, any of the above).

    Have joy.

Oh yeah, and multiply the exercise X 3 'cause that's how long it usually
    takes to get right.

    before messing with floats...

get some aerosol carby cleaner from Supercheap or Repco.

Get some compressed air in a can from Dick Smith or Jaycar.

remove the carb, and disassemble. That is, take the floatbowl off and
unscrew jets, and choke. If you think you'll have trouble remembering
    what went where, draw diagrams.

Squirt carby cleaner into every hole or crevice you can find, go to town!
all over the slide and needle too. give the floats a good squirt, but
don't remove them and be very careful not to bend anything. Then follow
    up with the compressed air.

Squirt carby cleaner through each jet, follow up with compressed air.

Put it all back together. see if that's helped...

    Thanks for your instructions guys.

It sounds pretty complicated but there is only one way to learn I suppose.

    Hope I don't f.ck anything up though.

  6. step 1; whack carby with the non pointy end of a screwdriver...will
probably dislodge the dirt and save you the effort of dismantling it

step 2; open fuel drain screw and drain carb, flush by turning fuel tap
on...will wash out dirt and save you the effort of dismantling it

step 3; install inline filter to prevent recurrence and save you the
effort of dismantling it in future

if you MUST dismantle it; assembly is in reverse order to
disassembly...make sure you know where everything came from!!
