Thinking of moving camp from NSW to sunny far north QLD.
My 17 year daughter has been buzzing around town on her scooter for 3 or so
months now and is about to do her test for her P`s.
My understanding of the new laws in QLD is that a person must be 18 years of
    age to gain their L`s.
The question is now, will she be legally able to obtain a motorcycle license
in QLD armed with her NSW P license?

The learner age is irrelevant if she has a licence.
What is the minimum age for a Qld motorcycle licence holder? If it's
18 then it's highly unlikely they will allow her to transfer her
car/bike licence over before her 18th birthday, though she would still
be able to use them if she's only "visiting" I presume. You need to
    ring Qld transport.

All newly licensed motorcycle riders are required to hold their class RE
(restricted) motorcycle licence for a minimum of 12 months before being able
to progress to their class R (unrestricted) motorcycle licence.

This is in addition to the requirement to hold a provisional car licence for
12 months prior to getting a motorcycle learner licence (class RE).

    Hmmm is that relevant?

Can a 17 year old who possesses a provisional motorcycle license in NSW
    legally ride in QLD?

  5. AS far as I was told, she can if she remains a visitor
However, if she resides more than 14 days, she is required to acquire a Qld.
    licence
but as she is 17, she can't, she could possibly remain on a learners licence
    So, stay a visitor................till she is 18
then I guess she would be able to change over to a Qld licence

Yep for the three month grace period she's totally legal doing whatever
she's qualified to do on the NSW licence.
After that she's gotta' get an "equivalent" Qld licence and comply with
    whatever that stipulates.
