Hey it could be worse. They could spend those mills on something that
you're not involved in. At least you have the satisfaction of knowing
when you vote you're getting your money's worth.

    (all about Q-Ride)
    I love this bit
".... For example, if you want to learn to ride a class R motorbike,
you may need to know the date on which your class RE provisional or
open licence was first issued. You can obtain this information by
    completing a Driver's Record
Information Request form (F2121) and presenting it at any Queensland
Transport customer service centre. You must pay a fee when you lodge
    the
    request. ..."

Or you could just read the "Date Issued" on the licence!!

This was the allegation being passed around mid last year after a rash
of bike deaths in SE Qld, and the RACQ especially was touting Q-ride
    as the problem.
What I never saw though was any evidence that any of the deaths were
of riders who had a q-ride licence!!
(from what I recall I think a fair proportion were actually
    unlicenced!)

It all went quiet after that and I don't think the Gumbiment ever
bought in to the argument (though all the stuff you posted is
obviously a reaction to those deaths)

Ah, well, as for the "allegations", I, me, myself, personally, was
chatting to a very fine gentleman, down here in NSW, and he explained
that he couldn't spare to time to do the stuff in NSW, so he flew up to
Brisbane (possibly Gold Coast) and did a quick Q-Ride to get an
    unlimited licence.

He was riding a Daytona 675, and complained to me about the front brake.
    :-0

I gave him the basic, this is how to use a front brake, and he went off.

Next time I saw him he was rapt in the capabilities of the front brake!

    Allegations? Yeah, right.

  5. All correct of course, but I was just adding that the former Q-Safe
option still exists. Q-Ride simplifies it if you have a car licence
and therefore have demonstrated competency with road rules [1] but you
can still get a bike-only licence by having a school or someone else
teach you enough to pass the QT examiner's assessment.

[1] A matter of interpretation in many cases

Dammit; I hate it when people use facts in newsgroups!!
Besides; there must be more to that story 'cause he (assumedly) didn't buy
the 675 at the shop where he did the Q-Ride.
(He must've already had a Qld licence and address too!)

    Sorry! ... well, not very.
Correct. He actually bought the bike in Vic.
I believe that the person in question has, indeed, a Queensland address.

As far as the sordid details go, I dunno.

Since he was nice enough to give me a set of Daytona footpegs for my
Street Triple, how picky would you expect me to be?

I'd like to think that the wee lesson on front brake use sort of paid
    for the pegs. :)

You have a date issued on your licence in Qld?
My licence has name, address, licence number, date of birth, expiry
date, class MR, R. No indication of when the licence was first issued,
or when the R and MR were added, or even when this particular one was
renewed (it can be a one or three year licence, or is it five now?). I
think it started out as a "C", for car.
