For fear of being flamed right off the net can someone give be a clue what
"motorcycles" has to do with this usenet group "uk.rec.motorcycles"???

It would appear very little and a W-H-O-L-E lot more to do with most
everything but, or am I just missing a syllable or two in the conversations.

    TIA and HAGD

  4. If you have a motorcycle question, post it here for some good replies from
experienced bikers, I've had some excellent advice, which makes the usual
arseholes a bit easier to tolerate..

Other than that, it's slightly "cliquey" and not very encouraging for
newcomers considering it's a PUBLIC newsgroup.

You are missing five syllables and a 4 letter acronym or whatever they
call it. Although there are those who feel that just the first two
syllables are sufficient. It goes like this:-

**** off and read the ffaq.

  8. Just about everybody here has/had/will have a bike. Apart from that,
**** all to do with you, unless you've had/got/will have one.
Nah, you're missing much more than that. But it's your loss.

Well to say "slightly "cliquey"" would be an understatement to say the
least. Thanks for the quick response of great insight. I will hang for a
while and sift thru to find the good stuff.

As for Lozzoroni I doubt that any derogatory comment I would attempt to make
would have little impact so I reserve the right to refrain from such
nonsense. He, she, it may be a very nice person within his own realm of
which I am gladly not part of. I am very thankful for that small piece of
sunshine. So to Lozzoroni I say: "May the fleas of a thousand infest your
armpits and I hope you have a better day."

To all others: "May your rides be dry and give you the greatest of freedom
    and pleasures."

    Later,

  11. I said it wasn't encouraging for newcomers, not me. Just an observation,
    obviously something you're jumpy about.

ABLE_1 came up with the following;:
The clue is in the question ...
You're missing plenty, but feel free to **** right off ... or not, whatever,
    you [1] won't be missed.

    [1] Nor, indeed, will I.

  13. Aahh... just take no notice. You'll find some interesting stuff here, you
just have to remember that Usenet is like the rest of the internet... some
good, some bad, lots of well-meaning people and lots of arseholes.

  14. It's more like someone politely asking a group of friends in a pub to
recommend a lager. Two say "Fosters", one says "Stella" one says "You're
some sort of **** for liking lager" and the other 5 tell him to **** off.
And one more in the corner says "****" because it's big and clever.

I'd say that for most newbies their introduction here is liking walking into
a pub wearing only a dinner jacket and a pair of lime green swimming trunks
and shouting at the top of their voice, "Does this look sceptic to anybody
here?" and then trying to start a fight before anybody has had time to
    answer.

I dunno, maybe the pub analogy is starting to break down ... maybe it's more
like joining the world's biggest book club, where they only ever read The
    Complete Works of Douglas Adams.

    Or something.

  18. Utter cobblenuts, you addlepated ninny coop. I've not posted here that long,
but it ain't cliquey. It's got its own persona and rools, but all group
gestalts do that. Try butting in to any bunch of people and see what
    happens.
